Spin it how ever you want, but the treatment of women that is CONDONED in Muslim countries is not condoned in the US.

 

In nearly all cases if you resort to violence in this country to solve a problem, you are going to jail. People may advocate for violence in the case of murderers, rapist, pedophiles or others due to emotion related to their crimes. At the end of the day Americans will allow the process to work and those people get locked away there is no longer vigilante justice. Comparing someone wanting to see a child rapist get what's coming to him, again is much different than CONDONING Domestic Violence.

 

If it was only one video I would agree, but this is by FAR not the first report of women being treated this way in those countries.

 

I didn't even mention violence against perpetrators of crimes in order to enact revenge. I was just talking about day to day stuff.

 

And again, I find it ironic that people are up in arms about disciplining ones wife by through physical means, but are ok with disciplining our children by the same means. So as long as it's a man's daughter, he can discipline away.

 

We do a good job of talking about how terrible domestic violence is, and have plenty of laws to address it. But when 20-25% of women in our country suffer from domestic violence, we need to do a better job of not doing what we are condemning the rest of the world for doing. So while we don't condone it, there are many, many that still do it.

Anyone that has any level of respect for their husband or wife would never raise their hands to them...condoning it at any level is horrible.

Yep. Because we don't have a problem with domestic violence in this country. You never hear about men smacking around their wives/girlfriends, and children are rarely abused. Statistically, only about 1 in every 4 women in the USA suffer from domestic violence...that's a number we can live with right??

 

And what all the memes you on social media that you see endorsing spanking our children...they are just meant to be funny.

 

The fact is, violence against women is a worldwide issue. It's not limited to Muslims.

 

Straw man argument if ever there was one. One (Muslim teaching/acceptance of beating a wife) has absolutely nothing to do with the other (illegal, unwanted and immoral domestic violence in America).

Lets say there is a US family, living in the states, who are Muslim. The husband beats his wife which is acceptable by his religious standards. A neighbor calls the police. Can he be arrested for domestic violence? My guess is yes, but like many other victims of DV, she won't cooperate. But let's say she did want charges pressed. Does he have a religious out?
