Slow players that don't let anyone around and backs the whole course up and then complain when people start hitting into them.

On busy days what I don't like are idiots who tee off while your still chipping/wedging up to the green from the fairway. First time it happens, I take it as a mistake or a sign my group needs to speed up play. The second time, I'm getting in the cart and going back to the previous tee to let you know what I think.

If you're putting on the green then yes I will Tee off. If on fairway but over 350 away I will too. I know I can't possibly hit you

Well, I guess I should have been more specific. I'm referring to short yardage holes, you know, common sense would indicate to wait. But by all means if we're on the green and you cannot reach it, sure you tee off.

I agree, but like I indicated to PP1, common sense would dictate you don't drive into my group on short holes. I can tell when I'm slowing up play or someone in our group is and would suredly let you play through. But if you're just being an idiot, I'm talking to you about it.

Another thing that drives me batty is guys that think a dollar skins game or even a friendly game is the US Open. I play with one fellow that you literally have to freeze stiffer than a statue when he's hitting or chipping/putting. Most golfers that's played for a while already know golf etiquette and are going to be quite on shots or putts. But if you as much as twitch and he misses a putt it's automatically your fault....."I saw those big white shoes of yours out of the corner of my eye". :isurrender:

The guys I play with are more like the people that were "cheering" for Danny Noonan on the 18th green.

Two guys are playing golf behind two ladies who are really slow. Slow to set up, slow to hit, real slow to putt, slow to get to the cart and get to the next hole.

Guy 1: "Run up there and ask them if they'll let us play through."

Guy 2: "Sure thing."

Guy 2 (returning out of breath): "I can't do it. One of them is my wife and the other one is my mistress. You'll have to do it."

Guy 1 (returning out of breath): "Small world, ain't it."

They want to "see the whole course".

I can see it just fine as I walk from the tips to the forward tees.

One thing that players should do is NOT feel like everybody has to play the same tees in their foursome. I hit the ball OK and feel comfortable playing a course 6,500-6,900 yds. Some of the guys I play with don't hit it as far so they play a tee or two up -closer to 6,000 yds...works well for all of us.

Guys that cuss over every bad shot. I learned a LONG time ago that golf wasn't gonna put money in my bank account.

Just have some fun.

I don't know Papa, some of the guys I have played with over the years have put a few bucks in my bank account:banana:

My only pet peeve with golf is people who swing invisible golf clubs while talking about golf. Why do you need to swing an invisible club when talking about a par 3 dog leg left at old man groves hole #5? I don't act like I'm shooting an invisible basketball when describing a steph curry step back, or throw an invisible football when talking about Andy Dalton. What's the deal?

Yep. I play a lot with my 78 year old father in law and my wife's uncles. I can still manage my way around from black tees much of the time (although I rarely play the tips anymore), while those guys are lucky to hit a driver 200 yards. We haven't played the same tees in 10 years.

People trying to be my swing coach when I'm playing. I know I'm not very good, you coaching me is not going to help me on the course.

Pairing up with a stranger who is a pretty bad hacker, has just a gosh awful swing...and he outplays you.:isurrender: Happened to me yesterday, I just played gosh awful and couldn't stop the bleeding.

People who take 10 shots before even making it to the green and then after the hole you ask, "What'd ya get?" and somehow they miraculously get a 5 or 6.

Or hit 3 off the tee before they get one in play or one they like and then claim a "par".

My Father in Law used to play golf, he took up the game in his 50's. He is the consummate self taught player...never watched golf on TV, never read magazines, nothing no outside influences on his game. He was always athletic and in good shape and could hit his driver 250+.

Well what ticked me off about him was that instead of trying to use the same swing and just change clubs to change distance, he'd change his swing. He would hit Driver off of every hole. He would just "Take a little off" as he'd say on shorter holes. Then if he was within 20 yards of the green he'd just slap the ball up there with his putter. Every once in a while he'd hit a short iron if he was in the rough. So basically hitting only 3 clubs he'd go out and shoot in the 90's or better every time he played.

He played entirely by feel and touch never really considering what club to use.
