Dang was that an impact grenade or faulty? Any grenade I have ever thrown had about a 5 second delay fuse on it, that one seemed as if it exploded as soon as it hit the water.

 

I worked with a guy who commanded a swift boat in Vietnam before the Navy took that mission over. He said they would 'fish' with grenades (hence my question was from a real story). He said the trick was to know how much to let them 'cook off' before tossing them.

Exactly my thought. They had impact grenades (supposedly) when I was in the Army, but we never trained with them, and the reason is pretty obvious.

Supposing that he stood further away and had succeeded, I'm still not getting the thrill of his objective.

This is ALMOST as bad as the kids in WV that were trying to dodge arrows from a compound bow, as a game. Anyway one of them didn't dodge the arrow and got shot in the head and died. Natural selection is real.

Tannerite has its place, I've used it to site in scopes. If your 300-500 yards away trying to site in a .308 it can be handy. What this person did was extremely foolish and it will haunt him forever.

I have a wide and varied range of interest, you would be surprised. What I don't have is a condescending view of those with different interest.

Same here. I don't at all begrudge folks their opportunities to blow stuff up; just not my cup of tea.

Yes, we use a small jar as a target and as soon as you hit it you get a pop and some smoke. No need for spotting scope or binoculars.
