Very subversive, but managing to stay funny while doing so. Mitch Hedburg/Stephen Wright: Masters of brevity Norm McDonald: Basically think everything he does is funny, he has a Kaufman quality to him, tells bad jokes on purpose, sometimes. His special "me doing standup" is perfect. He can be perfect, when he wants to, but sometimes it doesn't appear to be his purpose, i.e. the roast of bob saget. Check out his "sportshows" on youtube. Bill Cosby: Other than being a serial rapist, his "bill cosby himself" special is a masterpiece.

I'll never forget Richard Pryor shooting his car or Eddie Murphy's Aunt Bunny...Goony Goo Goo! As mentioned before if you get past stand up, Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were the best comic skit duo in history IMO. I always liked George Carlin and thought he was pretty witty and made you think, he kept you on your toes. Someone not mentioned yet that you also had to pay attention to and keep up is Dennis Miller. His quips are so quick and obscure you either get them and really like him or your lost and think he's horrible. Norm Macdonald is incredible I agree. Someone else that maybe is too low brow for some of you, but I saw him at Rupp a few years ago, is Ron White. In person he is pretty funny, he had everyone rolling all night. I think he only told 1 joke that I'd ever heard before, so it wasn't just a rerun of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. He was really funny. I've seen a couple of other specials where he was really good to not so good, but when I saw him he was great.

A great friend of mine lost his Mom to cancer and it floored him. He was in a funk....literally and figuratively. I took some time off from work early on a Friday afternoon to console him and have a few beers. I arrive at his home and he was unusually jovial and happy considering the circumstances. He hands me his phone and tells me to listen to the following voice mail. It was the Tater himself expressing his condolences on his Moms passing and encouraging him to put one foot in front of the next and he would be thinking of him. My friends wife reached out to Rons manager who relayed the info. I thought that was a pretty outstanding gesture. I've been a fan ever since. Cannot tell if more scotch or less puts him in a funnier place? :lol2: Some of my happiest childhood memories involve my parents and I watching the Carol Burnett show and all of us howling with laughter. It was a kinder, gentler, era and their comedy was simple, pure, and appealed to all ages!!!
