'82 Paul Andrews' shot heard around the Bluegrass, that was unreal. Barbour's outburst in the finals was very nice, Lofton's 39 and Richie's 52 were very good also.

I didnt get to watch the 82' game but the other three games were just  , each year could be considered an upset and a Kentucky tradition. Each where one of them games God happens to bless us to witness to keep us loving this game that much more.

No doubt about it 1983 Greg Bates triple overtime bucket giving Henry Clay the win.

1982, Paul Andrews midcourt shot to win the state title for Laurel County over North Hardin. I have never seen Rupp Arena go so silent from the time it left his hand until seconds after it ripped thru the net. This was hands down my favorite Sweet 16 moment. I also remember Paul having to hit clutch free throws in the semis against Todd May's Virgie team to even make it to the championship game. It was Jumpin Joe's Magic Show (UAB signee Joe Karr), but it was Paul's tournament, shot and game that everyone remembers the most.

Obviously my favorite is the Dewalt dunk that pretty well crushed any of the hopes Mason had of winning that game,............

The most athletic and amazing out of nowhere dunk i have even witnessed first hand.:jump:

That dunk made everyone stand up and all the Mason Co. fans sit down and not speak the rest of the game. Eventhough it was a great game and Mason had a tremendous group of kids.

You could'nt be more wrong. I'm a Mason Fan I was up in amazemnet of what I just saw as well as a few thousand others. Mason Fans appreciate great basketball.

I'd say mine happened in 2000 when we (Bishop Brossart) made it to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. We went down to Lexington wednesday morning to watch NCC play against Male. As we were walking to our bus after NCC got beat we were walking across the NCC seating section. We heard people saying "You don't belong here!" and plenty of booing to go along with that. (Some did cheer for us and I repeat some not most)

We went on to play our opening game a game against Graves Co. and we won. Our record at that point was 19-13 and Grave's was 27-3. We won 47 to 40, due to the Brossart defense that we are all so proud of. That's my favorite moment.

My other favorite moment came when I was a freshman in high school and got to was Eric Glaser (sp?), Derek Smith, and Jared Lorenzen play in the finals.

Some of my top Sweet Sixteen memories are:

The "shot heard round KY" by Rick Jones against Lex Cath in 98.

Lonnell Dewalt's monster putback dunk in the championship game in 04.

Chris Lofton's 3 pointer to send the game into overtime against Trinity in 04.

Not saying anything bad about Mason Co. fans , I 2 know how it feels to be dunked on then everything seems twice as harder to get back into. I was there and I see a lot of blue and white fans take a seat after the moment was over and everyone quit watching the replays on the screen. Mason appreciates great basketball because a ot of great players and teams have went through that country over the years.

1989.....Bryan Station vs. Warren Central on Friday night. Bryan Station is down 2 with 30 seconds to play and they're inbounding the ball on the side in front of their own bench. Michael Allen takes a three from the left side misses, BS rebounds passes to Michael again, he misses, BS rebounds kick it out to point guard who rotates ball to Allen again for a three, he misses, Nimbo Hammons gets rebound on weakside dribbles to the wing and skips a pass to Allen, HE HITS and BS goes up one. Warren Central calls time wth 9 seconds to go. BS intercepts inbounds pass and wins.

I know this isn't a girls mesage board but this one is too good. West Carter is going to win their first ever state championship and Kandi Brown is on the line with seconds to play, there is a sub waiting to enter the game for her. She hits both and leaps into her Dad's arms. That would be the one and only Hop. They embrace forever and enjoy the moment.

I was there for that one... it gave me chills.

The 1986 final four with Pulaski Co. v.Owensboro in the first game and Pleasure Ridge Park v. Hazard in the second. Both games went down to the wire. The finals were anti-climatic.

Didn't Pulaski win the final in the last 15 seconds or so? Couldn't have been that anti-climactic, although I'm sure the Hazard fans were still ticked.

I am not sure of the year but PRP played Hazard. After some of the worst officiating I have ever seen go against Hazard, nearly everyone in Rupp began rooting for Hazard. Although Hazard lost, it was a great game.

I would almost call it a tie for mine. When Barbour went off on Saturday of the tournament, and Dewalts putback jam have to be my two favorites.
