March 4, 201610 yr I managed to watch the last hour. I came away thinking that Kasich would be a capable leader. I was impressed with Cruz, which surprised me. I had hope for Rubio but left disappointed. Trump? His answer about the military following his direction even if it was illegal scared the heck out of me.
March 4, 201610 yr How Kasich is running 4th behind those other candidates says a lot about either the process or the voters themselves. He is clearly the best choice. I believe that he may be exactly what the country needs, but unfortunately, I'm afraid that we are going to get the President we deserve instead.:scared: Kasich is clearly the best candidate on he GOP side. Not even close ! Trump, Cruz, and Rubio are Curly , Moe, and Larry... No wait, Little Marco is Shrimp.

March 4, 201610 yr Little Marco and Lyin' Ted would make for a good tv show about a couple of poker players crossing the country playing poker and solving a mystery each week.
March 4, 201610 yr It's to the point that the only way they can stop Trump is to have Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich sit down and figure out who's got the best shot, have the other two drop out of the race and endorse the other. Trump would stay No. 1 whether it's a two-person, three-person or four-person primary.

March 4, 201610 yr Full disclosure. I will be caucusing for Kasich tomorrow and have wanted him to win the general since around the time he decided to run. I've previously alluded to the fact that I support Sanders, and that is true as well. I find Bernie to be a welcome breath of fresh air in the fact that he is the most honest candidate I ever remember, he has shined a light on many issues that need addressing, and I find the Democrats desired coronation of Hilary to be almost as offensive as the rise of Donald Trump. Still, as unrealistic as it is, I think Ohio's Governor is the best major party candidate. This is a genuinely honest question. Before Rubio took the bait a week or so ago and has seemed to lose a lot of favor with GOP voters what has actually been his appeal? I assume it is the perception that he had the best chance of beating Hilary, but what makes people think that? Is it because he is the best looking candidate? Is it because he isn't Trump or Cruz? I tried to like him for a bit, but nothing has stuck with me so far. My mind is completely made up regarding Trump and Cruz, but what are some redeeming qualities of Rubio?

To answer the last question - Latino voters and Florida. The 'establishment' seems to believe that with enough money they can buy enough lipstick and put it on their pig and the people will gravitate to their lipsticked pig. And if all the candidates are lipsticked pigs - that works. Bush and Rubio were the primary establishment guys with Christy maybe in backup. Cruz is tea party based and somewhat an outsider. Somewhat being operative because his wife is a Goldman-Sachs person. Its hard to call any family with a high level GS person an 'outsider'. As long as the establishment can control the candidate and eventually the office they do not care who wins. Trump is real outsider and can really upset the status quo establishment so he will be attacked to end it gets that far. Kasich maybe under the establishment domain but he is so practical that they probably do not like him much and he has not been the 'establishment pick' so far. So he is not getting the money love from the establishment.

Even though Bush originally received the blank check, in a bubble Rubio should be the perfect establishment candidate. Young, good-looking, Latino, from Florida, and seemingly easy to influence/control. My question however is more aimed at individual posters that have favored him or still do. Is it simply insert opinion of Trump, Cruz's extremism, and Kasich's lack of traction so Marco is the only one left standing? Is the that he is the good looking, young Latino Senator from Florida? I guess what I am saying is I completely understand why powerbrokers would want him, but I'm struggling to see his appeal to the average GOP voter.
March 4, 201610 yr Did anyone notice the weird white ball that appeared on Cruz's mouth? Looked like he ate a styrophome cup prior to the debate and part of it came back up. I think he ate it. It was there and was suddenly gone.
March 4, 201610 yr I've been officially swayed tonight. If Marco cared about the Republican Party he needs to drop out and let Kasich run the show. This guy would do wonders I'm starting to feel the same way. He's the only one that looks honest and worthy.

But if they all keep taking delegates from Trump, especially in these take all states, wouldn't that be better? Let Rubio focus on Florida, Kasich on Ohio. IF Trump loses those two wouldn't we have a real shot at a contested convention? I could be completely wrong, I don't know this stuff as well as you all do. Just asking.
