Agree. Problem is, not nearly enough people would be agreeable to this sensible idea. They'd rather earmark that $200 a month for lottery tickets and cigarettes.

I'll tell that to my doctor and St. Elizabeth Hospital when my bills comes due. How far you think that will get? Hell, I've been seeing less since 2008.

 

And even if folks agree to do something like this, you know darn well the politicians will continue to rob Peter to pay Paul.

Get a grip, it's just a starting point. Thought those numbers would make people realize how dire this situation has become. Hubby and I are retired, I know how it is. I'm looking at a 7 hr. surgery. But this has to stop.

When the government decides to tighten regulations on food stamps and other handouts, I will sign up for shelling over another $200 a month on top of what I am already paying.

Tough ask for more from people have seen the debt rise and haven't seen any benefits.

 

Maybe we start with those banks and corporations we poured money out for in 2008. Oil corps and companies like Halliburton that benefitted from the Iraq War.

 

Start there and see where the average American's responsibility begins after that.

We need someone at the purse strings who can say NO. Banks and oil companies are about as likely to help us out as they did not give any help in 2008-2009 when the stock market invested Americans lost one-half their savings. And now, they want us to trust them? Most self centered and selfish group of politicians and investment advisors anybody ever hired. My hubby and I had a big disagreement in 2008, he didn't want women and children begging on the streets and me, call me cold but we should not have saved this bunch from jumping. They don't have a clue for tightening their belts. But we do need to clean this mess up. And not with more creative accounting and stock market machinations. We've spun our tires for 9 years. i.e QE 123 or printing more dollars. And now we have to choose the person to start to get us out of this mess. Sorry, but I'm 65 and mad and sick of being taken for granted. And no I don't have Alzheimer's Disease. This is not a party problem. And don't forget to add cell phones and lotto tickets to Americas favorite purchases.
