March 6, 201610 yr We need someone at the purse strings who can say NO. Banks and oil companies are about as likely to help us out as they did not give any help in 2008-2009 when the stock market invested Americans lost one-half their savings. And now, they want us to trust them? Most self centered and selfish group of politicians and investment advisors anybody ever hired. My hubby and I had a big disagreement in 2008, he didn't want women and children begging on the streets and me, call me cold but we should not have saved this bunch from jumping. They don't have a clue for tightening their belts. But we do need to clean this mess up. And not with more creative accounting and stock market machinations. We've spun our tires for 9 years. i.e QE 123 or printing more dollars. And now we have to choose the person to start to get us out of this mess. Sorry, but I'm 65 and mad and sick of being taken for granted. And no I don't have Alzheimer's Disease. This is not a party problem. And don't forget to add cell phones and lotto tickets to Americas favorite purchases. If this is an issue near and dear to your heart you need to check out the tax policy center's evaluation of the primary candidates' tax plans and what they would do to the deficit and in turn the debt. Just a heads up, you probably won't like what you see from the Republican side which seems to produce a minimum of a 5 trillion dollar budget deficit (Cruz and Trump's are larger than that). Tax cuts to the rich and added spending create larger deficits. Bernie is the only one who has a plan to take in more money, but he promises it social programs (healthcare and college for all).

Have already checked a couple, parts of some I like. But first things first. Our income is not the problem, our spending is a big one. Being in business for 50 years lets a person see how familys spend. People will choose a vacation over buying tires for a vehicle, they buy used tires for their family to ride on. And I don't know how to reorganize their priorities, both individuals and government. Some of Bernie's points are good but he can't implement them. And you already know how disgusted I am with the Republicans, sent tweets to my senator and congressman on Friday several to them in fact.

Sounds like the polar opposite of the Tax Foundation's analysis which found ten year negative gdp, wage and job growth in Hillary and Bernies plans as opposed to positive growth in the republican plans.
March 6, 201610 yr Got anything that could remotely start bringing this down, as quickly as possible and will our elected officials finally burn their credit cards? Need to run this like a company and not a fraternity house. No more red ink, and we are not the world's piggybank. Oh, I agree here.
March 6, 201610 yr In recent news... http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/05/business/economy/jobs-report-unemployment-wages.html?_r=0 Probably all lies, though.
March 7, 201610 yr Sounds like the polar opposite of the Tax Foundation's analysis which found ten year negative gdp, wage and job growth in Hillary and Bernies plans as opposed to positive growth in the republican plans. We aren't talking wage increase from reduced taxes and speculated job growth. But we are talking about the reducing the debt and NONE of them have a good plan. Not one candidate in the two major parties. Like I said Bernie is going to try to take in more money than the federal govt is currently spending, but he has it earmarked for more social programs. Trump, Cruz, and Rubio plan on taking less money in through tax cuts but spend the same by increasing defense and building walls. Hillary is basically at a neutral in her plan no cuts in spending or taxes which means no reduction of the debt. A person who wants to be a one term president has to come in and raise taxes but apply all of that revenue to the debt.

Wage, gdp and job growth are key issues of any tax and economic plan so we must talk about them also. It's ridiculous to restrict debate to only a few parameters.
March 7, 201610 yr Wage, gdp and job growth are key issues of any tax and economic plan so we must talk about them also. It's ridiculous to restrict debate to only a few parameters. Very key, but they are speculative and out of the hands of those who make these tax policies. If we are just talking taxing and spending then Republicans will be creating larger deficits and more debt.

If we are just talking taxing and spending then Republicans will be creating larger deficits and more debt. Not so when you take into account the effects of the gdp, wage and jobs. You cannot cherry pick specific items and ignore others, they're all interconnected. You cannot isolate just the taxing and spending, you have to look at the complete picture. At least if you want the complete picture.

March 7, 201610 yr Can we not start a national lottery with proceeds going to the national debt? I mean just a couple months ago we almost saw a $1 Trillion for Powerball... Maybe the federal gov could do a national split the pot once a month...$5 a ticket...You would have a better chance of getting some people's money this way rather than trying to figure out how to tax them when they show not making any money. Then legalize Marijuana with a 25% federal sales tax...how much revenue might these things generate?
