Highlands 52 Holy Cross 44 (9th Region)

Featured Replies

And the only person congratulating a top notch senior for Holy Cross is Highlands fan RCC9. Kudos to him for recognizing McClendon, a state champion and excellent player who deserves praise and recognition for a great career.

I'd like this but they took the like button away. Lol

You couldn't find Pete Mitchell with a search party. I suppose the Pendleton County boys might have been in action, which could explain it.

Not many HC posters toniggt, just saying.

And they were there. Some stick out more than others......Just Sayin! Must be in Debriefing!:jump:

Don't think that one is in the bag yet....stay tuned...............

Congratulations to HHS they fought till the bitter end. I thought McClendon passed up shots down the stretch that she normally takes but also Adler was part of the blame for that as she played very good defense on her. IMO the HHS coaches should have gone to Leigh earlier in the game Chames could not guard her and would have been in foul trouble a lot earlier and I think HHS would have pulled away to a 10-15 point lead.

HC had control and usually down the stretch wins these types of games especially with McClendon because that is her time. McClendon had a great career and I wish her all the best, not having her next year will be a big blow to HC even though they have plenty of talent coming back but her leadership, trust and court awareness will be missed for sure. All the best to you young lady.

6 on the floor - not an attempt by HC to get away with anything. Ref put the ball in play before anyone (other than HHS) was ready. HC was not pressing at the time which allowed HHS to run 10 seconds off the clock before anyone figured out the ball was in play and HC needed to foul. Definite lack of control of the game by the refs, but it very much worked to HHS's favor and HC did not get any benefit out of it. (It would have been different if all 6 HC defenders were in place and hawking the ball when it was put in play. Of course, in that situation they likely would have caught the 6 players on the floor.)

As mentioned above, Adler on HC's PG in the 2nd half was a huge change. Length made the passing lanes more difficult for HC to get into their offense.

On offense, HHS ball movement made HC defense work and it caught up to them. HHS would keep working the ball and eventually a slow-footed defender would get caught out of position and HHS would find the open hand.

HHS outscored HC 19-6 in the final quarter.

I was told the 6 players were on offense out of a time out and it was HC ball under the basket?

This is true. HC had the ball under their basket taking it out of bounds. HC inbounded the ball with 6 players on the floor. Right as they got the ball in, HC threw the ball away and it became HHS ball. HC went to pressure with the same 6 on the floor while Hhs inbounded and started up the court. Hhs was breaking the press and Kes reached out and pulled one of his players off the court while hhs was transitioning up the court. No stoppage in play.

It had no impact on the result, but that's how it happened.

You must not have been at the game, Leigh struggled the first three quarters. Chames did a great job and was the reason for this. Surprised you give credit to Adler earlier in the year you stated she couldn't guard very well. Difference in the game was the Highlands Coach changed who was guarding who and the three guards for Highlands dominated both ends of the floor especially defense. McClendon is a great player she has left her mark on the HC program, 9th region, and State for ever. Congrats on a great career Ms McClendon.

Very entertaining game. First off congrats to the young lady's from HC for one heck of a run, wishing the seniors nothing but the best. McLendon is an outstanding player. Congrats to Highlands for the win and not getting shook early when HC was on a run, outstanding coaching by the Highlands staff. The HC broadcast team was mentioned earlier, they do a very good job and off course they are going to be a little bias for there team, as most of us would be, just want to thank them for being at the games and supporting high school ball. Highlands,Ryle should be a dandy.

I was at the game and Leigh struggled because she didn't take it to her and they didn't get her the ball as much in the 1st half IMO. The 2nd half was a different story as they got her the ball and she went right at Chames who is a good play but doesn't move her feet very well and I am sure HHS staff told Leigh to go at her and that is the reason she was in foul trouble. As for Adler yes I didn't think she played very good defense early on but she definitely stepped it this game for sure, also Barth defensively was strong.

:woot: You're a bad boy, although I did get a chuckle out of it.

I stand by my statement you couldn't have been at the game. If you were you must not know basketball. KHSAA stats have Leigh 2/10. My guess is most of those were early and maybe 2-3 in the fourth q. Give credit to Chames.
