I stand by my statement you couldn't have been at the game. If you were you must not know basketball. KHSAA stats have Leigh 2/10. My guess is most of those were early and maybe 2-3 in the fourth q. Give credit to Chames.

Leigh dominated the final minutes of the game.

Leigh dominated the final minutes of the game.

Yes she did.

Wish I could have heard the ruckus the birds fans put up watching 6 Holy Cross players on the floor! That is hilarious!

Great job to Highlands for getting it done any way they could! Bottom line, you live to play another game!

Congrats to Holy Cross as well, they have some nice young players with promise, and congratulations to the seniors! What a fantastic high school basketball experience you have had! Hope to see Miss McClendon at that next level.

It's like that commercial when the guy is throwing free "data all around". I'm throwing "likes all around".

What happened to the button?

Nice come back win by HHS. Cross came out as the aggressor and frankly looked like they would win this one. Credit to Coffey and couple underclassman for keeping Highlands within striking distance. Then came down to poise under pressure in last 4 minutes. Highlands Seniors stepped up..they hit their free throws..HC has some untimely turnover and misses free throws. Congrats to Highlands on the win but can't say I can wish a lot of luck on Saturday :)

Congrats to Deja McClendon on great High School career. She has the ring to show it.

Did it ever get noticed by the refs? was technical assessed? what is correct call for that?

Birdbrain - where for art thou?

100% on the officiating crew. Never, ever, ever, ever, for any reason put the ball in play without a good player count and contact with partners.

At this time of the season, in a Regional game, it is inexcusable, period.

If detected, it is a technical foul. If not detected (by the officials) it is just poor officiating.

If anyone who is reading this knows me, then they know I defend most officiating errors....not this one. You just can't. Thankfully it did not affect the outcome.

Correct. Can't happen in any game but definitely not in a close region tourney game. I'm still trying to figure out how the player left undetected by 3 officials.

I would really love to get the perspective from an HC fan.

Also, what does HC have coming back next year? I know they have a huge 7th grader and Chames who will likely be Twin Towers.

It happened right next to the official. Kez actually pulled the girl off the floor and the official, standing on the same sideline, was no more than 3 feet away maybe. I'll post the video if I can.

Well there you go...it's obvious, isn't it ? :sssh:

For the record, I don't think it was intentional to have 6 on the floor. They had 6 on the floor when they inbounded and threw it away. If it was intentional, they would have gotten an easy bucket out of it. And I would have done the same thing by pulling a kid off the floor. I don't think I would have "self-reported" it to the officials! Heck, I might have tried to sneak another kid in later in the game when I was losing!!! It worked once!

Agreed, appeared to be an offense to defense sub where the girl being subbed out didn't hear or it wasn't communicated clearly. Not an excuse by any means, but the reason I think it was missed was that Highlands had their 5 spread across the court pretty much from FT line to FT line and when the ball was inbounded and movement started to occur, I could see how compartmentalizing officials may miss that extra girl. Not an excuse, they should have gotten the count right before the inbounds, but that's my theory.

I agree 100%.

I'm hearing that no less then 12 9th Region girls coaches have re assembled and once again petitioned KHSAA for the death penalty for Holy Cross.... this time for playing 6 players on the floor at one time. HHS Coach could be overheard saying that it was not an accident. He saw a practice and they were practicing 6 player plays. Another coach said that he found the clipboard and there were six X's and only five O's.

This months meeting will be at the Extended Stay in Florence..... better food.

Congrats, lady birds!
