I hear Greenup county is looking for a new coach.. Just sayin..

Parents will destroy coaches!!!! I am telling you our society today is a wreck, if little johnny doesn't play then hang the coach!!!

I don't know what is going on.

 

But, what I do know....

 

Ray was a junior at Danville when my Dad got to Boyle. Ray's Dad, Gippy, was the head basketball coach at Boyle when my Dad was the head football coach there. My Dad & Gippy were very good friends. I've known Ray for a long time. He is a very good friend, an outstanding football coach who loves his kids, a man of very strong faith in Christ, and one extremely tough son of a gun.

 

Ray has been through a bunch of battles over the years. He told one of his bosses many years ago, "I will be the head football coach here as long as this is where God wants me. When He doesn't want me here, I won't be here."

 

I hate for such a good man and wonderful friend to be in this spot. But, I also know the same faith that has sustained Ray through so many trials as a football coach will sustain him through this one as well. John 16:33

In the coaching community I've never heard a bad word said about coach Graham. I don't know him but have heard nothing but good things about him.

As I posted in another post, until Football Coaches really come together and unite, then it is a matter of time that football as a sport in this state is in trouble. When coaches are removed, fired, or whatever that takes behind the scenes that are happening at alarming rate, then it is time Unification. With 40-50 jobs per/year turn over in this state, the we are at a tipping point. I do understand both sides, but the lack of support as well as help for Head Football Coaches are unprecedented in this state. You cannot coach football from a technique or safety stand point, but if you are being evaluated on success, then I do not know any principals that can evaluate a coach if they do not give them what them need to be successful. As far as Ray goes, "Not a finer man or football coach", the old school statement is a joke, and is very condescending to football coaches and our sport. If you teach people to block, tackle, and lift weights correctly then you are operating from a safety aspect, not an old school. If coaches do not teach football then they need to coach a sport where you roll a ball out, where you do not have to worry about safety.

With the increasing popularity of social media as well as the increased # of spineless "sounding boards" , high school sports in general are taking on senseless casualties at an alarming rate..............unfortunately these are the times we live in.......

Rowan County seems to lose a lot of good coaches due to parents.

Excalty what makes a good job is the support that is given to you from the adminstration. I agree you would be hard to find a better man in the state than Ray Graham. Honestly I find it funny that a parents beef is the amount in contact in practice, when your talking about football. That's like saying you are shooting to much in basketball practice, or swinging to much in baseball practice.

 

Also it's a number of jobs around the state were Head coaches don't get a budget to hire quality assistant coaches. They refuse to put coaches in the buildings and your left with para-professional coaches. Thus they are ran thin going between 2 jobs, and as well all know high coaching is at least around 20 hours a week once you count practice, film study, painting field, weight lifting, game day prep, and everything else.

KEA is the closest thing............not all teachers join........there are other teacher organizations as well......KEA is the one who basically argues for school funding and KTRS

it is a matter of time that football as a sport in this state is in trouble.

 

I think we are there and we have been for some time. In the thread I started on why is there so much turn over among head coaches... the same reasons there is the turnover are the same reasons our sport is in trouble.

 

It is going to come down to how much a community wants football at the local level. And, do they have the resources to provide what they want.
