Times change, Maybe he's to old school for today's game. He's almost 65? You have to be able to relate to kids in today's game. No one cares what you did 20 years ago.

Don't know Graham other than that he is a football coach. I was giving another point of view. I Have no clue what he is being accused of. I was going off the prior post. Buts It's not like he's a program changer Rowan won 5 games in 2012, I wouldn't call it "several" years. He may not be in touch with this generation of kids, is what I am saying. I'd find it hard to believe as a parent that a 60+ year old would be someone to revive a program and not try old school football.

He is a game changer when it comes to the lives of the players he coaches. Coach Graham is a great influence and that is what our youth needs is someone who has great morals and values...someone who is willing to pass them along through this great sport of football. Parents and Administration used to look at this as a must have for a coach but instead its about wins and loses or about getting players looks to play college football or just satisfying political powers of the community. Just like our society...football is turning into (or has already turned) a depressing shell of what used to be something great. Oh well...just my 2 cents.

I still don't know what you are talking about. The OEA doesn't investigate someone because they are not a program changer or because they are over 60 years old. Like I said all of that is irrelevant. The OEA is the education world version of the IRS and they deal with legal matters for the Kentucky department of education. They do not investigate bad football coaches.

 

Excalty!!! If he didn't get the job done (Win/lose) fine, or even say he's an average coach at best. But to say the man has broken laws or done something illegal is opening up another can of worms.

Belfry is an outlier, Haywood is Belfry, totally different situation.

Maybe you should re-read the ashland article.

 

So a group of parents complained that had nothing to with football? And they diffused the situation by letting him teach, but not coach football? If the principal doesn't know what's going on then why make such drastic moves? Someone needs to tell what happened, it would cause a lot less headache instead of making it Taboo.

Haywood and Graham are not in the same stratosphere. If Haywood were to go Rowan, he would struggle. It's different when you've been at a school 30+ years and continue to turn out successful teams. When you're returning to a school you coached at 30yrs ago, you're probably not going to fair to well. Belfry understands they're Belfry...do you think any group of parents would try to run off Haywood? No. Football is the life blood of that community. Dudley Hilton 60+, not having the best of times at Taylor Co. Tell me a coach that is 60+ And has started a new gig and been successful in this day and age...

A complaint was made to the OEA concerning the number of concussions in practice (amount of time spent in full contact), bullying, theft in the locker room, etc...

"There are two types of coaches those that have been fired and those that are going to be fired." To the gentlemen that keep on hating on old school football just remember. Alabama gave the ball to the same guy 45 times in the semi-final game. Every person watching the game knew he was getting it "it did not matter" The Alabama coaching staff makes a combined 16,000,000.00 in coaching supplements to send plays in from the sideline by a guy that I would not allow to date my daughter. Point is you coach what you know how to coach, and coach to the best of your ability. The Spread, The I, The Split, The Bone, Flex, Wing-T. Just remember those guys like Mark Brown Wing -T, Johnny Hines - Multiple, Larry French Wing-T with a Twist, Chuck Smith - Double Tight Formations, all old school, and all very successful. Chances are when you go to there Spring Practice you will see the 1 on 1 drill, 2 on 2 drill, and blocking and tackling. All guys that subscribe to the nerf football syndrome best of luck when you play against these guys.

College has nothing to with this, Alabama with the supreme talent of the land, and 6'3 260 RB, with 5 NFL lineman blocking for him...pretty sure you can run whatever you want.

Then I guess I was given bad information. The person that shared this info with me is a high ranking official in the Rowan County system, so he should know. Also, in hearing discussions at the district and regional basketball tournaments, I have heard the same info and no other mention of anything else.

Also, if you go to their site (Office of Education Accountability homepage), you will see that the OEA deals with a lot more than just finances.
