Upset about a call and some words were said to the ref.

Just saying when one team shoots 44 free throws to another teams 12 that says a lot... Mason missed a lot of shots and had a rough night all around..

 

I never go by foul discrepancies. Some teams are aggressive by nature and therefore foul a lot. Some teams commit dumb fouls. Some teams play a passive game and win with finesse. Brossart, while not big in nature or deep on the bench, plays a rugged style. Joey Hickman with a nice 13 points and his usual defensive stalwart effort. They play to the limit at times.

 

Tonight, Mason flat out just was a step behind and fouled a lot. Pig was bad and it affected the whole team.

 

I wish the royals the best, but Brossart was the better team tonight. It wasn't close and it wasn't the refs.

How many free throws is each team supposed to have? Maybe Brossart just did a better job of playing defense tonight.

None of those officials were from Brossart. In fact, 2 are from down around Maysville.

 

I live in Maysville and I have not seen those guys in Maysville. They do hang out at the Fieldhouse sometime in the winter months.

Every time I think Mason is over this hurdle, this lack of discipline rears its ugly head. Brossart is tough at home but if Mason is going to have any post season success they'll need to get these negative tendencies under control.

Umm, he committed #5 on an open court reach and jumped up and down like a 5th grader (with all due respect to 5th graders) then uttered the magic words for all to hear.

 

It was as deserving a T as the refs handbook will ever advise.

 

Player had a bad night, was outplayed by the other teams rising star, and his team could not deal with immense defense. Add it all up and you can figure the reaction.

That "rising star" didn't have a tight leash on his mouth ether, I'm fine with the second T as it should have been called, but there was a lot of talk from the home team tonight as well.

How about 20 for 24 for the Royals?

 

Pig had two points by hitting two free-throws all night, was obviously frustrated and was ejected because he picked up his SECOND TECHNICAL Foul. Earlier in the half he was involved in a double-technical Zai for Brossart and Williams for Mason County.

 

Brossart shot 26 free-throws in the fourth quarter when Mason County trailed by as many as 17, most the result of fouls in the open court, and most as the result of the double-bonus.

 

It was a 22-21 game at halftime, Brossart led by a point. We outscored you 50 to 35 in the second half after going on a 18-4 run to start the second half. I'm assuming the officials got together at halftime and decided to screw the Royals.

 

I don't remember us complaining when we were defeated 60-36 last year in the Fieldhouse. We got on the bus, went home, went to practice and came back this year and won by 16 with a bunch of middle class, suburbanite, Catholic school boys who play their tail ends off and got the win. I suggest the Royals do the same.

 

When you are good you win a lot of games at home BECAUSE YOU ARE GOOD. The Royals should know all about that.

 

Perhaps next time out, Pig gets us for 30 and you win.

Wow. This coming from a Mason County guy. Are you really going there?

 

Brossart plays well at home because they play the best defense in the State. (along with CovCath and NCC). They shut down the Pig as he and the Royals were led to slaughter.

The real story once again was Jackson Crawford as he "drops the mic", hamming it up on the Pig and the Royals going for 31 and 8.

 

If you consider yourself a fan, maven, buff, admirer, aficionado of the game of basketball its time to really consider Jax Crawford for Player of the Year in the 10th Region. This is based on what he has done all year but especially against top competition. (Campbell, Paris, Holy Cross, and now Mason).

 

He is not racking up numbers for a garbage team with an unlimited green light. He is not a volume shooter.

 

Fans of big man moves will love his craftiness around the rim and ability to score with either hand.

 

If you already mailed in your opinion prior to the year then perhaps you go watch another sport. I consider most Mason County fans to be the most knowledgeable in the State and have met many over the years. I think most would say the same thing.

 

Jackson Crawford dominated when it meant the most.
