Hangman Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 So says TMZ, and many other sites picking it up. I'm not a big Eagles fan, but was this expected? TMZ
Hangman Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 Seems as if it's not a hoax. It's up on the band's official website. It Is With The Heaviest of Hearts That We Announce? : Eagles
Mack The Knife Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 The reason they didn't accept their Kennedy Centers Honor was because of Frey's illness. The band will be honored next year.
The Scribe Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Boy, the celebrities are dropping quickly so far in 2016
Bluegrasscard Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Floored. Saw them at Rupp last year. Seemed like they would go another 10 years.
hoops5 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 This one really stings. This was my favorite band back in the day. Glenn Frey: Eagles Founder and Singer-Songwriter Dies at Age 67 in New York, Band Announces Frey died Monday of “complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia,” the band said on its Facebook page. He co-founded the Grammy Award-winning Eagles in 1971.
hoops5 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 67 years old. Meanwhile, Betty White celebrates her 93rd birthday.
Run To State Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Somewhere in Heaven Birdsfan is dancing to Glenn's tunes with a small, personal gig for BF. He so loved Glenn and the Eagles! RIP, Glenn Frey.
The Professor Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Hate to hear this. Saw them at Rupp in July. He seemed in top form then.
mcpapa Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Dang. Saw them twice way back in the day; once at Morehead (they appeared a few weeks later on Midnight Special wearing Morehead (Eagles) t-shirts. Saw them a couple years later in Landover, Maryland with Linda Ronstadt. Restricted view (actually really decent seats, a bit behind the stage) tickets were 7 bucks a pop. Those were the days. RIP.
Hatz Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Sad day. Frey has been in and out of poor health for a while now. Years of drug abuse took their toll. I don't foresee the Eagles ever performing again.
