Who takes this year's title?

Hounds by 6. Too much athleticism for BB to handle for 32 minutes.

If Paris wins they definitely earned it with the draw they had.

Brossart doesnt play a physical style and i think that will hurt them in this one. Contrasting styles in this one Paris will look to run up and down the court while we all know Brossart will try and play Mustang basketball and slow this one down. Can the Hounds have enough patience to sit down and guard for an extended amount of time? Can the Mustangs handle the physical play Paris will enforce on them? Will Paris have enough left in the tank after the games they have played to this point. Brossart had the easiest path to the championship, but Nicholas showed a couple of holes in the gameplan.

 

If Brossart can keep it in the 40's they can win but if it is much higher than that Paris will win.

I agree and I picked them from the beginning. Going to stick with them to get the win.

I may be in the minority, but this is why I hope Kentucky high school basketball never implements a shot clock. Watching two teams with contrasting styles is fascinating to me.

I hope Paris wins because of the tough road they went through to get to finals. Brossart is rested and game planning for this championship since the draw . So I'll have to take brossart by 6.

While the Hounds have definitely played the stronger competition this week, I think with the tournament structure this year that the "Will Paris have enough in the tank?" statements are somewhat overblown.

Paris played Silver Grove last Friday, Bracken County on Monday, Augusta on Wednesday and have had two days off to prepare for Brossart on Saturday - not much different than a regular season stretch.

While the score didn't indicate it, Nicholas didn't lay down for Brossart on Thursday, relegating us to a seven man rotation in that one for 30 minutes.

Brossart gets one day off before taking on Paris.

 

I guess my point is that I don't think the fatigue/strength of schedule factor is as big an advantage/disadvantage as some are making it out to be.

During football season, the Hounds knocked Brossart from the unbeaten ranks and went on to capture the district title. Playing on that Greyhound football team were Koebe Garrard, James Clark, Jekobi Wells, Wan Dumphord, Jasper Wolff, Demond Dorsey, Jordan Davis and Jacquaze Dumphord ... meaning 8 of Paris' round-ball players played in that important district football game. Now, they will play in a very important basketball game ... a win would give them their first small school region title since 2002, which is the same season Paris last won a football district championship! Go Hounds ... bring it home! :watching:

All I kno is BB beat the brakes off the Hounds last time we met. Different teams now tho...like the last guy commented fatigue won't b a factor...Hounds go deep into the bench if needed...not saying revenge game but this is for all the marbles..if we stay patient and punish them inside we'll win and move on. #ParisPride

It will be interesting to see how Paris does in containing J.Crawfords inside presence and how well BB guards do handling Paris pressure. Seems like Paris always has about 6 hands slapping at the ball, really have to protect it and be strong with it.

Brossarts defensive pressure is going to frustrate Paris, but I think the athleticism will just be too much. I'm wanting to see Jackson Crawford and Koebe Garrad matchup. Give me Paris by 6. If Brossart loses this will be the first time they haven't won Class A two years in a row.

Interesting point you bring up about these Paris Greyhounds beating Brossart in such a big district football game back on October 16th. It was a great game between two really good football teams and a huge win for Paris.

 

The only flaw in your thinking is that the only thing that those Brossart Football Mustangs and these Brossart Basketball Mustangs have in common are that we wear the same colors.

Neither Logan Schultz, nor Justin Rolf, nor John Ridder, nor Jacob Zai, nor Jackson Crawford, nor Joey Hickman, nor David Kelley, nor Bryce Kremer - our top 8 players, were on the football field that night. The only members of the football Mustangs who play basketball are Sophomores Bryce Donnelly, Jack Howard, and Brady Dennis. Our basketball guys were in the gym that day preparing to play Paris in the finals on the 10th Region "A" on January 16th!

 

This game sets up as a potentially great basketball game between two really good teams. If the Greyhounds win we will congratulate them and cheer for them in Frankfort. If our Mustangs don't win it won't be for lack of preparation. We have played Holmes and Newport twice, so won't be overwhelmed by the Hounds' athleticism.

 

Again, it stacks up as a great game between two good teams. May the better team on this night win.
