He also completely bamboozled Clemson's secondary a few times. I thought Coker might be Bama's Achilles Heel but I was wrong. I was badmouthing Coker, especially in the first half, but I believe that Clemson's defensive play was why he was looking so bad. They were taking away the quick routes and getting pressure on him when he had to check off of those, although maybe he should have pulled the ball down and ran a few times. He made some big plays in the second half, Clemson's breakdowns in the secondary aided him though, as did the loss of Alexander for Clemson.

That wasn't near the problem the second half, but the RT for Alabama may lose his scholarship after his second half performance.
January 12, 201610 yr Few notes... - While the Bama defense was had by Clemson, I thought they did well at some things. For one, Clemson never effectively ran the ball. Gallman is a 1,500 yard rusher. He was held to 45 yards and 34 came on one play in the 4th quarter. Watson acquired some rushing yards (73), but the vast majority of that was QB scramble plays, including one 20 yard scamper. He had gone over 100 the past four games on many designed runs. He went over 400 passing, but the last 80 came when Bama went into prevent. Still, Watson is a one man wrecking crew. As an aside, I don't get as caught up with total numbers in college football because the games are so long and have so many possessions. - Bama big played Clemson. Henry run, run back, onside kick, two blown coverage TDs. You can't have that. - Clemson is the favorite next year. - I am still confused as to why Dabo lost his mind on the onside kick. Speaking of which, while gutsy, Saban is playing with house money given his track record; however, has there ever been a better executed onside kick? That was like a pass to an open receiver :lol2:
January 12, 201610 yr Bama is a really fun team to watch, they play a timeless version of football and do it the best as anyone has ever done it. But, Clemson really impressed me. If they could have contained the big plays they would have won easily. They were better statistically in almost every category. But Bama is Bama and they find ways to win.

There was one block he missed that looked almost like he missed it on purpose.

He explained his rationale in that his players were supposed to have an opportunity to go after the ball? I think he knew he was wrong and was just caught off-guard by how well executed it was.

January 12, 201610 yr Life is easier when you have a great tradition and can recruit players that you want. The NFL is a different game and why would he want the headache? He has been there and failed at it. Stay where he is great (and i don't like Alabama).
January 12, 201610 yr I just saw an almost unbelievable stat in this one. D. Watson has over 400 yds. passing, 478 total yds., 40 points vs. the best defense in college football !! :ohbrother:.... (and Loses the game) D. Watson is imo the best college football player in America. Did you ever say this before last night? You may have and I may have just missed it. However it's very easy to say that he should have won the Heisman after this performance and he probably would have if the Hesiman was after this game.
January 12, 201610 yr Not a requirement. But if a player signals for fair catch, then he has to be given the opportunity, correct? I don't think that happened here, but that would be where the ball having to be kicked into the ground comes into play.
