I think the Brown hit is only one of many parts that led to the suspension. In fact, that hit is viewed in a different light because Burfict delivered, and he has no one to blame but himself. It does not matter if Brown was concussed or not. The hit is illegal in today's NFL.

 

Burfict is a dirty player. He looks for cheap shot hit opportunities. He has been fined for twisting players' ankles in piles. He has spat on players. He tries to stomp on the Pittsburgh lineman's foot after a play. There are more. No one can deny Burfict is dirty. It is a shame because he is a great player.

His character issues are all on the field. You don't hear anything about off the field stuff. Some GM would call him the moment the Bengals got off the phone with them. Many coaches and GMs feel like it is a locker room culture thing, and their vets will change him for the better. Fat chance, but that's their belief.

The ironic thing about Burfict is I have heard many times comments by coaches, players and others about what a smart football player Burfict is and yet he does some of the stupidest things I have ever seen a football player do.

 

I don't doubt that he is a smart football player. That interception he made was not only a great physical play but a very smart play the way he set it up. Surely they play you as smart as him and figure out how stupid all of this other stuff is

Not even close to being true. Shoot if Vontez got cut tomorrow, I think even the Steelers would take a serious look at him. I feel like even the Patriots would take a hard look at signing him, believing they could get a serious talent and get him to play more under control under one of the greatest coaches of all time. Vontez is someone pretty much every team in the NFL would try to get now. Coming out of college he had the bad rep, but then also had a very bad pro day and looked slow, etc. Now that they seen how he can play in the NFL, every team in the NFL would try to have him if the Bengals cut him tomorrow.

 

As for Adam Jones since he is older, a lot of teams may not be willing to risk signing him still though even after having a great year at corner.

He is an outstanding talent. I wish the Bengals could get a guy like Ray Lewis to be their new LB coach... Ray had issues and learned how to push the line in games without crossing it...

If Burfict could learn how to do that, he'd be a possible HOF type player one day.. It's a big "if" though. He needs the right mentor and coach.

Mentor is right. He needs someone that he respects who can get through to him when he goes into primal rage mode. A Ray Lewis would do that, potentially. It is definitely worth doing b/c talent like that very rarely comes along.
