June 23, 201610 yr Just got The Iron King by Maurice Druon. It's historical fiction about 14th century France and George R.R. Martin calls it "the original Game of Thrones." That was enough for me. By the way, if you purchase ebooks through Amazon you might have gotten some money in a class action settlement. I checked my gift card balance and had enough for a new book in there.
June 25, 201610 yr I have not seen the movie. I probably will not read another of this author's books. While the story was good, the telling of the tale got ponderous. A lot. I like detail, but the flowery descriptions went way over the top for me. It was like, "Look, I can make a metaphor out of anything." The only reason I did not put it down, was because I actually liked the story and I was not going to let it beat me. Dag nabbit!

I sort of agree with you here. I really enjoyed the story, but the details were overkill at times.
June 27, 201610 yr Finished Baldacci's "The Guilty." Really enjoyed it until the end. That was just too much. Starting Baldacci's "The Last Mile."
