Randy Parker Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Asked for 7 books for Christmas and got 7 of them. Starting on this one tonight: Here's a link to last year's thread: http://bluegrasspreps.com/bluegrasspreps-coms-break/what-you-reading-295042.html
hoops5 Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Harlan Coben's latest coming in March 2016. It's a good thing.
mcpapa Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Finished this one yesterday. First chapter was goofy, but turned out to be pretty decent.
gchs_uk9 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Technically started this on New Year's Eve, but this is my first one for the year:
Getslow Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 ^ Been looking forward to that one. Read "Assassination Vacation" by her several years ago. Let us know how it was when you finish up.
gchs_uk9 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 ^ Been looking forward to that one. Read "Assassination Vacation" by her several years ago. Let us know how it was when you finish up. I've read all her books and liked them all. "Unfamiliar Fishes" was really good. It then linked me to "Leviathan" by Eric Jay Dolin, a fantastic book about whaling history. I recommend all wholeheartedly.
Godot Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Just started Baldacci's "The Guilty".I enjoyed it
kygirl Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Starting ‘We Are Not Ourselves,’ by Matthew Thomas

Read "Assassination Vacation" by her several years ago. Let us know how it was when you finish up. It was very good. Highly recommended. Gives a good re-telling of the Revolution, but more focus on Lafayette and why he came to the US. Also gives some good stories about the French reasons for helping. Add in Vowell's casual and humorous writing style and you'll love it.
