I think he is saying that people have the right to choose to drink, therefore a ban on alcohol is a violation of freedom.

 

I say our freedom works in conjunction with laws that are voted on by the citizens. Since citizens have the freedom to vote, and they do, then it was not a violation of freedom to be a dry county.

 

I'm glad this decision was made through a vote and not by city council trying to change a law.

 

Just because a majority of people want to restrict freedom , does not mean you aren't restrcting said freedom.

 

If a product is legal I don't believe a community should have the right to tell a business they can't sell it. Let the buyers decide if the product has demand. Don't let government influence supply. Government controlling supply is restrcting freedom.

Any county that is dry is stupid. That's the bottom line.

Personally, I don't think the vote will sway any business in coming to the county or not. Can it impact those that are already there? Sure. Kroger (and County Line Liquor) will lose some business to whatever gas station decides to put in a beer cave.

 

I think the real reason there hasn't been an Applebee's or O'Charley's open up (since the cities went moist) has more to do with the workforce available in Grant County. I just think there's a lot of people who think that working in the restaurant business is "beneath" them, and they won't do it. They'll no doubt want preferential treatment (because, the Ark is located in their county, you know) for the jobs that the Ark may have, but will turn them down because they're not getting $15 an hour.

Id say 25 to 30. Have to remember that one company owns 5 of the gas stations in the county. Walmart, two of the resturants went to full licence. There were o think 2 new stand alone liquor stores though.

Cities in the county have had alcohol for almost 10 years what new businesses came in in that time. Zero.

They certainly didn't think it through. Never understood why going out to a restaurant, getting loaded and driving home was more preferable than people being able to buy a case of beer at the carryout and go home and drink.

Regardless if you believe the mounting evidence that liquor sales drives tax revenue. We live in America and every citizen should be able to buy a beer in the city or county they live.

 

When I tell people where I live now that Kentucky still has dry counties their jaws drop.
