These numbers are from the KHSAA, boys only. The number next to the school is the number of boys 9-12. I am sure that this is not going to be the exact classes due to sizes changing, but it should be close enough for discussion purposes.

4A would remain a great Class --

Rockcastle Co.

CovCath

Boyle Co.

LexCath

Highlands

Bell Co.

Mason Co.

Most of our current district manages to make it into 6A, I hope they redraw the district lines to take Seneca and Southern out.

I am sure Mason would push hard to be down in 3A.

How do you leave Bullitt East off of that list?

Anyway a team like Lawrence could drop down in AAA?

How do you leave Bullitt East off of that list?

Certainly no offense was intended, however, I don't think 1 really good year gets you a seat at that table. I'll be interested to see how B. East backs it up this year.

Again, it was done quickly and no offense was intended.

Sandman 32,

Which years did you use for the enrollment breakdown? How exactly does Ohio determine their classes?

I know that using Corbin's current enrollment numbers for boys, they would be well above the cut-off for 2A. I'm sure that due to increasing and decreasing enrollments that several schools will be shuffled around depending upon what class years the KHSAA decides to use, but I would think that they would start with this coming year's junior class and go down to either the 8th or 9th grade.

I hope Corbin stays in 2A, I'd really like to see the days of the Middlesboro, Somerset, Corbin rivalry renewed. To me those were the glory days of Corbin football. If they move to 3A, there will be no rivals and as a result, I don't think you'll see the interest level at Corbin where it was back in the old days.

That was the best I could do as we don't currently classify them by boys only numbers. Ohio football is boys, grades 10-12.

Man, Ballard Memorial who 2 yrs ago had 14 players on their team would be

2A! I think Crittendon, Beechwood, or Mayfield should move to 2A and leave Ballard in 1A. I wonder how many schools would play up? IE:Mayfield, Beechwood, Lou. Holy Cross???

Will be interesting to see how things shape out not only in what classes teams fall but how they align the districts as there could be some long hauls for some teams...should be an anticipated day either Friday or Monday when they post the changes for next season. This new change will also make this years championships more meaningful as you know teams will want to win their respected championships before having everything rearranged for the 2007 seasons.

Another question...what does this do to scheduling and contracts that teams already have with each other? Do they become null and void because of having to schedule new district teams...could mean the demise of some great rivalries depending on the size of your teams districts.

Two things stick out to me. One is that If this is how it breaks down, I think Dixie would have a good shot at finally winning a state championship. (barring no big 4A's move up). And 1A looks to be dominated by Mayfield, and Beechwood with no NCC, and Danville. I like the way this breaks down. Nice work Sandman. :thumb:
