KHSAA 6 Classes (Evenly divided)

Beechwood and Mayfield should move up to 2A because most likely they will have no competition at all besides for each other to win the State Championship...

This is about making it easier, not hard.

I think Dixie would have a good shot at finally winning a state championship. (barring no big 4A's move up).

Which to me, might be the most bittersweet win in history.

Don't worry. The playoffs will allow them to play closer to home.

Only as District Champ... ;)

Evarts, Cumberland and Cawood will be consolidating in 2007.

I have been told that the new Harlan Co. High School will not open until 2008.

If Mayfield and Beechwood do indeed move up, 1A would become completely miserable.

It means they learn to spend Friday's on a bus... :irked:

Not really. If they have 4 or 5 district games, that would be only 2 or 3 on the road per season. The other non-district games could be scheduled close to home.

I will admit to this....with the smaller class and smaller district alignment, that opens up more than the 3 non-district games that we play:

Manual, MBA, and St. Xavier.....

I would look to see schedule to make a major upgrading in level of competition.

That was my thought as well. Provided of course that they seriously overhaul the districts considering most of our district makes the jump to 6A. Otherwise our district is still almost the same size, it would free up maybe 1 or 2 games for us.

3 2.5 hour bus rides every other year is something I'm tired of them having to deal with...

Anyway a team like Lawrence could drop down in AAA?

Run off about 35 boys from the school enrollment. :D

You can still schedule each other during the regular season if you want.

I hear you and I have been there. There were days when I wished we only had to travel 2.5 hours. There were times Belfry was in a district with Clay County, Leslie County, Knott Co and Powell Co among others. And we annually played Ironton and Tates Creek and occasionally Ashland. On certain years, travel was a brute.

Who are your district opponents in this new scanrio likely to be? Even if you have a couple of teams more than 2 hrs away, would you realistically have long trips in a season?

No....if I were Dixie and they were to win state....in a 4A when all of their thorns had moved on...wouldn't feel near the satisfaction that if they had won when they beat us in 04.

Another 2 games, against say HIGHLANDS, Lex Cath, Elder, Blue Springs, Warren Central (IND), etc...I'll take it.

Just a quick look sends them back down the AA HYW. There are no teams closer than an hour in the entire class, and moving up would not be fun at all...
