KHSAA 6 Classes (Evenly divided)

Most of the NKY coaching concerns in that article would be addressed with super classes.

I live in Boone County and I sure don't like it when I hear Boone County coaches complain because the Boone County school system keeps building new high schools (thus dividing their available talent) yet they continue to complain about the two evil Louisville schools...

I believe that the school board has it's thoughts and so do the coaches, and neither are in sync with the other. I have not heard of any plans to build a new high school in Kenton County, so maybe we will keeep growing.

Will Evarts, Cumberland Cawood consolidate 2007 or 2008? Also, Harrodsburg is no longer.

Actual construction started last month after several months of site preparation. The school should open in August of 2008.

No....if I were Dixie and they were to win state....in a 4A when all of their thorns had moved on...wouldn't feel near the satisfaction that if they had won when they beat us in 04.

I am sure they would still be happy to get a ring....I would be. :thumb:

Happy? Yes...completely satisfied? No way.

I think the coaches might not want more high schools so that they might at least have a chance to compete with the two evil Louisville schools. I find it very interesting that before Ryle was built, Boone played T and X very tough in all matchups. Then Ryle opens, and boom, all of a sudden we can't stay within 30 points of them. Part of that was Brohm, Coverdale, & Co., but I'm sure you'd agree that building more schools certainly has a detrimental effect on the successes of those schools.

On another note, I read the same article you guys did in the Post. What I gathered from it was that the coaches felt like nothing was really accomplished by going to 6 classes. It's like, one minute we were talking about a public/private split(the KFCA voted 195-78 FOR a split in Nov.), and your solution is creating 6 classes? Where did that come from? Address the problem, don't create a new one. After thinking, looking, and discussing 6 classes, I'm not sure it is the answer anymore. It will buy some appeasement for the KHSAA for the time being, but in the long run the same old problems will rear their ugly head(unless they are specifically addressed).

That was my thought as well. Provided of course that they seriously overhaul the districts considering most of our district makes the jump to 6A. Otherwise our district is still almost the same size, it would free up maybe 1 or 2 games for us.

I am curious as to how the schools in Jefferson County are going to be split up. As you said 7 of the schools in Trinity's district will still be in 6A, 6 of which are in Jefferson County with another 5 teams in the other district still in 6A.

They say they are going to divide the districts equally, with the 36 teams that Sandman has listed that means there will be 4 districts with 5 teams and 4 others with 4 teams.

So how will they split 11 teams in Jefferson County?

Below are a couple district breakdown possibilities for 6A I tried to work up geographically.

Class 6A - Jefferson County (2 - Districts)

1,390 St. Xavier Jefferson County

It looks like some schools are going to have long trips for district games.

Anybody have any more suggestions?

PLEASE TAKE SOUTHERN OUT OF OUR DISTRICT AND PUT MALE THERE!!!!!

I want SOMETHING live in the district. No offense to Seneca(in the 2 district plan) but the 2003 team was something special but won't likely occur anytime soon that I see.

The 3 district plan would work much better as those are the better teams in our district now anyway. It would also give us considerable lattitude in scheduled OOD games.

That Seneca 2003 team was pretty special to me too. I left Male in X's district because of the way it has been the past years.

Maybe they should rotate the big 3 every two years. St. X & Trinity same district, then Trinity & Male and then Male & St. X.

Now THAT would be interesting!

Could be interesting. Especially in Boone and Kenton County where the enrollments keep changing. A 4th high school in Boone County is just a few years off and may change the numbers.

Probably won't impact them too much. The new school should keeep them all pretty close to the same attendance as now, but you never know, it might mean dropping down with us in 5A for some of them.

I really think that the logical thing to do, would be to split up Male and Manual, us and St. Xavier...

New school looks to put ALL 4 of the Boone Co. schools into 5A. I have heard that the goal is 1200 students per school. Take 400 from Conner, 250 from Ryle and Boone, and 300 new students and we are there! Wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit, we've got some scores to settle with the Red Colonels.:madman:
