Well if BG only had to defeat Rockcastle County and Glasgow every now and then to win a title then I'm sure they'd be in double digits whereas Boyle Count would still only have 7. Just couldn't figure out that Highlands riddle when push came to shove now could they.......

I never said Highlands wouldn't have. I'm saying state finals success makes a difference in this argument. You can claim Boyle County has a better program than BG based on state titles all you want. Once you do that then I'll be one of the first to say that the quality of competion both teams had to face to get the yellow brick road is different.

 

Bowling Green dominated their side of the bracket for 3 years in row back in the 06,07,08 I believe it was. Their reward for that? Lexington Catholic's best team ever, CovCath's best team ever and one of the Highlands teams that kick started their run of a state record 6 titles in a row. That fact can't be dismissed. There's a reason Highlands came back up to 5A after dominating 4A last realignment.

 

Now, if we want to look at the overall quality of teams and their success let me know when the last time BG lost more than 5 games in a season and let me know how many times that has happened. Check out overall win-loss record. Check out playoff appearances, district titles and region titles as well.

 

Then check out head to head record and holler at me. I'll be here. BG doesn't rebuild. They reload. Every season.

I am a Boyle County fan. Adopted Rebel is the best way to describe it. I live Junction City. My kids attend and have graduated from Boyle County. Boyle County gets my time, money and support more than any school in this state. That doesn't mean I am going to say they are the best at everything. BG has always had a better football program than Boyle County. Should I not say that even though I believe it? Does that make me less of a Boyle County fan for saying that? If so then so be it. I'll still be at every boy's basketball game cheering for my Rebels and at most football games cheering for my Rebels. I'll still keep it real though.

Does that neccesarily matter? A state title is a state title. It benefits everyone, including Boyle County. The same people that were in 3A when they were contenders are the same teams that are challenging them now with the exception of Lexington Catholic (which BG has defeated I want to say 3-4 times in a row since the championship game). Understand that Bowling Green has gone on a run just like Boyle had in the early 2000s. Their accomplishments mirror each other. Head to head, Bowling Green has exposed Boyle in a very disheartening way. Bowling Green has more district and region titles. Bowling Green has more wins. Bowling Green has an all time better winning percentage. Boyle County is no slouch by any means, but these two programs are slotted correctly in terms of success. Sorry bout it.

I'm also just as firm in my beliefs and opinions as you are. I go hard for BG and Boyle County. If pitted against one another I'll root for Boyle County but I'll also be brutally honest when it comes to my opinion on the situation at hand.

Uh, no. I'm saying BG has played in a tougher class than Boyle County since they began playing football in 1922 and that is why BG has less titles than Boyle County.

 

In fact the numbers say the watering down of high school football by going to 6 classes actually hurt Boyle County and has made it harder for them to win state.

 

That alone is another point IMO.
