Has There Ever Been A Worse Division Than NFC East?

Featured Replies

With 4 weeks left in the season, the NFC East has 3 teams that are 2 games under .500 and 1 that is 3 games under. I can't think of a worse division than this one. The NFC South last year is my first thought, but I think this division is worse. If the Cowboys can pick up a game somewhere on everybody else, they have the best division record of anyone, its crazy but are they the favorite right now? I think so. The Giants have had every opportunity to put this division away but just can't.

Let me preface this by saying it will never happen, but just imagine:

Dallas somehow, some way, wins the division. Then, by stroke of luck, they win first game. Romo, a la Willis Reed, hobbles his way in and guides them to a miracle Super Bowl title. Ten years later the 30 for 30 special airs.

This was the best thing I've read all day.

Are you kidding? That 30 for 30 would be out before the Draft :lol2:

The Seahawks won their division one year at 7-9 and won a playoff game.

I think the winner of this division will finish 8-8.

Late clock management has killed the Giants. That along with everyone side from Eli and OBJ being injured.

Even with the injuries, they still blew 4 games they should have won. No wait, make that 5.

To much in the moment. Makes it hard to remember how bad last years NFC south truly was and also how bad the NFC west was the year Seattle won the division with a losing record.

However it does show a trend that each NFC division every few years decides to compete for worst in the league. I guess in two or three years people should put money on the NFC North to be the worst in the league lol.

Time to talk about how we select playoff teams? Should winning a really bad division keep out a team that has played better but stuck behind a dominant team?

That's what the Wild Cards are for. Division winners have to be rewarded. Either win your division or win a bunch of games. Are those two options not enough?

I keep telling myself 8-8 will win the division, but then I wonder, are any of these team really capable of winning 3 out of 4 games (Dallas would be winning 5 in a row to get to 8-8, when they are presently 1-7 without Romo starting)?

The Giants I feel are the best team with the most play makers, and only stable QB situation, and they continuously let you down... especially the defense.

The Giants might have the most dynamic offense in the league (behind NE when healthy) but their defense is the worst in the league.

I heard a stat yesterday, Giants have lost 4 games they had a lead with a minute to go in the game and a fifth game where they had a lead with 2 minutes to go in the game. That is astonishing.

Losses by Dallas

1. Seattle last second FG

2. Eagles OT

3. Giants at the end of the game

4. Bucs last second TD

5. Saints OT

6. Falcons lead by 20 at one point

Could have won those 6, that is what happens in the NFL, only 2 games that they have been out of Pats and Panthers.. If they had a healthy Romo they walk away with the division, but they are awful in some categories

1. dead last in take aways

2. dead last in less than 3rd and 2 conversions

3. Top 5 in T/O

4. Can not score TD in the redzone, have to be close to last in this category as well

Not all from losing Romo, they had 3 turnovers last night. However it is about who gets hot at the right time, so who know, I really like the Cardinals to somehow win the NFC

I think Carolina won the NFC South at 7-8-1 last season. There were similar threads about how awful that division was if I'm not mistaken.

Of course the biggest difference between those two is that we've come to expect the Bucs and Falcons, etc. to be bad while you rarely see the Giants, Cowboys, Eagles, and Redskins all bad at the same time.

The Giants I feel are the best team with the most play makers' date=' and only stable QB situation, and they continuously let you down... especially the defense.[/quote']

The Giants have 1, maybe 2 play makers and they don't use one right.

OBJ and Vereen are their only legitimate threats.

The Giants would be 10-2 if you took 1 yard off each side of the field and only played 3 quarters lol.

I don't think the Giants will win 3/4...but I wouldn't be surprised just because I've seen them win two super bowls i didn't think they'd win.
