I heard a stat yesterday, Giants have lost 4 games they had a lead with a minute to go in the game and a fifth game where they had a lead with 2 minutes to go in the game. That is astonishing.

 

Poor clock management, bad defense and weird play calling.

 

I do wonder how good the Giants would be if Cruz was healthy, Beatty didn't tear his pec in the off season and JPP didn't blow off his hand. That's three of their best players gone or mangled before they played the first snap.

 

It's not a good excuse because they have been in games and should have won several even without those guys.

That's what the Wild Cards are for. Division winners have to be rewarded. Either win your division or win a bunch of games. Are those two options not enough?

The Eagles had a chance to get in as a Wild Card, had they beaten the Cardinals, who were probably on QB number three, in week 8, coming off a bye, but couldn't get that done either. So yes, they missed the playoffs.

Well, I haven't done any research on historically/all-time bad divisions. The AFC South has had some bad years, but this bunch doesn't seem to know how to close out a game.

Right, but not more than the two teams who actually beat them out of a playoff spot, including one team they lost to during the season. So to make it comprehensible, I'll revise my statement to read: Win your division or win more games than the other teams vying for a wild card spot. If having a better record than one of those teams proves too difficult, win the same amount and beat them head-to-head, or if you don't play that team, have a better divisional record, or whatever the tiebreaker is. Or, you know, just win the division. My apologies for being too vague the first time around.

The Giants might have the most dynamic offense in the league (behind NE when healthy) but their defense is the worst in the league.
