I deserve some crow simply for not giving Belfry the full respect they obviously have deserved throughout this season. I knew they were good but I consistently had them behind the big 3 out of the west side of the bracket. I have been proven wrong. I will have them #1 in 3A for next year no doubt! Congrats to Belfry on a dominating title performance and on a great season!

In your Defense I dont think a lot of people knew what to expect of Belfry because the last 4 or so 3A Championships were played at such a high level that it bordered on "ugly" because of the low scoring final scores.

 

I also would be lying if I wasn't questioning this Belfry team a good bit after the Cabell Midland beat down and the Lawrence County fumble-palooza.

 

This Belfry Junior class simply is special though. These guys have not lost a meaningful post season game since they were in 7th Grade.... lots of guys playing in their 3rd State Final game as starters.

Congrats to Pirates. Play to your strength and they did.

 

The Knight offense struggled to get out of first gear. Part of of the reason for that was excellent coverage on Knight play makers.
