This thread wasn't started as a question. It was started as a statement of fact with exclamation marks from the Administrator. That hardly qualifies as an unbiased opening remark asking for legitimate discussion. This issue was tainted from the opening remark. Furthermore, the thread that was started about the 2A Final game and score contained the same statement about the punt. Then the follow up post immediately started discussing the call and not the game. So we have two threads dedicated to this subject.....:ohbrother:?:ohbrother:

 

If you would take your sensitive pants off and put on your big boy undies you'd see that this thread by Guru was aimed at the officials. Never mentioned anything about your beloved team or said it was tainted.

 

It is a HUGE deal for officials at state championship game to NOT know a basic rule especially when it results in a TD.

 

I guarantee you this thread would have been started had NCC been the recipient of ill-gotten fortune like Mayfield was.

I disagree, I think most have done well considering that we're put on the defense by a few people that claim our title is tainted, it takes away from the hard work and the accomplishments of the team and coaches.

One thing that hasn't been discussed is whether the official thought that Mayfield gained control of the ball before the end zone. We all know he didn't but maybe the official did.

If the MF player had gained control of that ball before the goal line, we know how the story would end. MF would go heavy set and plow in for the touchdown. Unless something stupid happens like a tight end engages with a defensive lineman who does a spin move and you get a ridiculous block in the back penalty, MF scores easily and we would have to find other things to talk about.

Gotta say this was an irresponsible thread to even start. Guru is a hater for sure. This was called a touchdown by the officials who were assigned to the game.

 

The hit on Kennemore was clearly targeting and changed the trajectory of the game...nobody stared a thread. The kid for NCC that picked up the yellow flag and threw it back over the head of the ref was a missed call and would have changed the trajectory of the game...no thread stared. The 'excessive celebration" call in the McCracken game cost Mayfield the game and a perfect season and was a ridiculous call....no thread started....I could go on and on.

 

This was the call on the field. live with it. The better team won and has won all year. I know that everyone (not a fan) is tired of Mayfield being in BG. This kids didn't make the call, the refs made the call. Delete this thread an move on. Its embarrassing.

 

None of those examples directly changed the score of the game or immediately cost the other team a possession.

 

That is one thing that definitely cannot be glossed over.

 

With that said, and as I said in the game thread, there was still a Full Quarter of football left. If this was the final play of the game I would say NewCath got robbed and the title is tainted.... as it stands though NewCath had every chance to still win this game and they lost it. Thus there is no debating the legitimacy of this Championship.

I went to nkysports.com, and from there read a recap story from some sports writer, don't know how accurate his statements are, but he said NCC never crossed the 50 yard line after their touchdown pass.

It does taint the win, but it is not Mayfield's fault. I am sure the NCC seniors wonder what could have been. It is a shame all around.

 

How do u know if that touchdown never stood who's to say Ncc would force a 3 and out and and then Smith broke a big run .I understand that all hearsay but you can't say that wouldn't of made a difference..

None of those guys are NewCath guys. 2 Highlands, 1 Beechwood, and one Owen County.
