For the record, congrats to all the Mayfield fans on here on their latest title. Again showing themselves to be one of the best programs in KY, year in and year out. Don't let this debate tarnish what you earned. Most of us are citing the fact that the refs were wrong but aren't building a case that it would have changed the winner of the game. At least that's how I see it. :thumb:

Ball did not bounce off the turf... It was caught clean.

The face mask was actually worse than what you are calling for. #3 was down, on the ground a step before #9 put his hands on him. Didn't have to touch him. Even if he wanted to touch #3 down, it didn't call for grabbing the face mask as he ran by.

I'm sure he thought as he ran by "I'm gonna intentionally grab this guys facemask!". I'm also sure you could see it better from 1000' feet further away than I was. I should've never even brought it up........

Definitely not 1000' further away from the play than you. Can't even begin to imagine how you would come up with that number. That's almost 3 football fields farther away than you. I'd have to be past the baseball field, arena, or hovering in a blimp to get that far away from anywhere you may have been.

Being an obvious mayfield fan, there is absolutely no possible way for you to have had a better view of that play than me. Unless ofcoarse you were a player or ref on the field.

As a fan, you could have been CLOSER on the mayfield side, but looking through cheerleaders and looking at the back of the newcath player.

Even if you were on the field/sidelines, your view would have been obstructed or not at a clear angle. At least not clear enough for you to think you saw the ball hit the ground before the catch.

If my math is correct (geometry was never my strong suit), and if the pathagorean theorem is still valid, at 5'10, I would estimate my eyes to have been a distance of between 170'-180' away from the play.

I was probably 1100' away and I thought it was questionable that the ball was caught. Smith may have gotten his hands under the ball but I know it was close and was glad it was ruled a catch.

 

The defender should have left the player alone because he was on his knees. The bad decision to reach down cost him 15 yards because he ended up in his grill. I certainly didn't think it was intentional but it did twist his helmet around and the PF was the right call. Not flagrant, just bad luck or bad decision.

The referee didn’t see it either. The official signaling it a catch is completely shielded from the play and couldn't possibly know if it hit the ground or not. He should have asked for help from officials with a better angle, but I think he got caught up in the facemasking thing and just rolled with it being a catch.
