Ill promise you one thing. This ain't 2005. Mayfield rolls. If they are healthy then they beat NCC by 3 TD's.

Know nothing of NCC. What's their deal? Strengths? Style?

 

Excellent RB in Smith and a nice complimentary back in Harris.

 

Big, tall QB in Henschen. They will have a distinct size advantage up front on Mayfield.

 

Defensively they are quite solid. Solid LB play and the Lawrence kid is a pleasure to watch play DT. Kid is a straight up ball player.

 

Not a team blessed with great team speed or athletes, but lots of experience and guys who have been on this stage for 2-3 years.

 

Mayfield matches up well with them but NewCath can cause serious problems if the Cards let them hang around.

I think the Breds have more of a chance than some will think. I didn't know about them after their game against Beechwood earlier on, but they have played much differently since. After tonight's game against Danville, I think their chances may be good. Danville had plenty of speed on both sides of the ball, which anyone who has watched Mayfield over the past few years knows they do too. Good luck to both teams.

 

Let's be honest here. Before last night they really hadn't played anyone since BW, and Danville isnt Mayfield.

As a Catholic I hear rumblings within the Church from the Kentucky Diocese in Owensboro, Louisville and NKY. Those Bishops are planning a emergency meeting with the KHSAA to beg for a solution to the biggest setbacks since the days of the Crusades as the last remaining bastion of hope titters on the brink of destruction. This comes after their prayers for Devine Intervention appear to have fallen on deaf ears leading the Bishops to belief that even God must be a Mayfield Cardinal fan

Don't forget that the Lexington Catholic Knights are still in to fight the apostacy.

I expect another tough game this week, for the third week in a row for the Cards. This playoff run has been brutal. 2A was loaded this year and I don't think anybody was surprised by who the final four were. All four are perennial powerhouse programs and neither team will run away with this one. Do the Cards have enough gas left in the tank to get it done....I say yes, but it will not come easy against NCC and if their heads aren't right going in, they will get beat. Mayfield by a score.

Mayfield wins because.... well it's Mayfield. And until they are dethroned (I'm aware they were 1A last year before someone says it) but until they are beat, they reign supreme. They own Beechwood and Beechwood and NewCath are similar. Mayfield rolls.

I wanted to see Danville at state really bad. That's just from a former player standpoint. Not being able to get over the hump against them for years built up alot of animosity for that program. Still much respect for them. State is State and I'm excited for it every year regardless of the opponent.

Probably don't think God really cares who wins this game. Has mor important things on his mind, like will Notre Dame make the playoffs.

How balanced is the NCC offense? Is the big QB very mobile, and a threat to run? Does he have the ability to win games with his arm if the run game is struggling?

Will Mayfield parlay this game into a 4th Straight Title and in the process relinguish NewCath to a Buffalo Bill-esque 4th consecutive State Runner-up Finishes?

That's a good one Toothpick. I'll admit if the Breds don't go right at Mayfield, hard, FOR FOUR QUARTERS, play SMART football, they may have a chance. If they don't, the Cardinals will bury them.
