LaFayette.

Male should win big, guess we will see.

This game was over before it was played.

The only thing that's sad about this game is Male not getting the respect the deserve.

 

They won a national 7 on 7 tourney against teams that are still playing. They beat everyone on their schedule and then some.

 

They gave up less than 100 points even with blow outs. Male MAY be the best team this side of the Mississippi.

 

It's bull crud that USA Today isn't considering them in the top 25 in the nation. When in fact this season they are very deserving of every accolade that comes their way.

 

Just my thoughts on a team that hasn't lost all year when it counted INCLUDING at a NATIONALLY RANKED tourney.

Lafayette has improved defensively in their last two games, and they will need to play that way against Male in order to keep it close. They will also have to avoid committing turnovers and penalties.

 

Perhaps their biggest challenge is their lack of a kicking game. They cannot afford to go three and out and then kick the ball ten yards. Missing PATs, or being forced into going for two because they are afraid to kick it will not work. They will need every point and every yard. Handing Male the ball at midfield is a recipe for disaster, just as it was at Trinity.

 

It is an uphill battle for Lafayette. The Male High School football team is the real deal and they do deserve accolades. To their credit, Lafayette has found a way to win, but they cannot afford to hurt themselves if they are going to compete in this game.

Maybe if Male had scattered a few OOS powers on their schedule rather then Western, Seneca and Fairdale. I'm not slamming Male at all. They've earned the accolades they are getting but to get real national attention they needed another non-district challenge. Other then Trinity their "voluntary" schedule was very bad.

Their schedule was much better than most, but some of their opponents (much like almost all of T's district ) were lackluster. The difference here though is that Male had some games against top notch competition. SK didn't

Their district was good (except Butler) and Trinity was good, but otherwise they didn't play anybody noteworthy. Male's team is great, no question about it, but a stronger schedule would have gotten them more attention.

I can't prove it and you can't change my opinion. If Trinity did what Male did this season including the pre season stuff Trinity wouldn't be in the top 25 they'd be in the top 10.

We all know how good Male is with or without proper "national" recognition. They are an incredible squad this year and I would have loved for them to have played some other state's powerhouses so I could have rooted for them. I always am proud when Trinity goes to work on the out of state teams and I am a BG fan/alum. I wish more of our powerhouses would branch out so the nation could become more aware of how strong our programs really are. I truly believe we would fair better than the rankings say. Having watched Oklahoma high school football every week for the last 6 yrs I can gurantee our top 7 squads would dominate this pitiful state. Jenks and Union are their only worthy teams.

 

I know this was a little off base but my point was to support Male in the fact that I think they would perform strong outside the state.

The only way H loses this game is if they beat themselves.
