I can't prove it and you can't change my opinion. If Trinity did what Male did this season including the pre season stuff Trinity wouldn't be in the top 25 they'd be in the top 10.

Count me as a T fan that thinks H is a top 25 team. But i understand the argument against. My grandfather played football for the Bulldogs, so I am 100% behind them. This is H's year.

I get what you're saying and you may be right. Just seems like this years Male team won't get as much pub as they deserve in my opinion.

 

Folks in KY that know HS football know how good they are for the most part but they've been solid all year long.

Male wins big. Just hope Lafayette avoids the running clock.

The only thing that's sad about this game is Male not getting the respect the deserve.

 

They won a national 7 on 7 tourney against teams that are still playing. They beat everyone on their schedule and then some.

 

They gave up less than 100 points even with blow outs. Male MAY be the best team this side of the Mississippi.

 

It's bull crud that USA Today isn't considering them in the top 25 in the nation. When in fact this season they are very deserving of every accolade that comes their way.

 

Just my thoughts on a team that hasn't lost all year when it counted INCLUDING at a NATIONALLY RANKED tourney.

 

Hate to burst your bubble but 7 on 7 is not football, a little different when someone can hit you.... 7 on 7 is Glorified Flag.... Now the Male football team that wears pads and plays actual 11 on 11 full contact football, they're pretty damn good.

What To Watch:

Male

- Dominating Defense and Efficient Offense. Noone in Kentucky has done it better and that is why Male is the unanimous #1 team in the Bluegrass. Male leads the state in scoring margin and have basically shut down opposing offenses, in particular rushing attacks, allowing less than 50 yards per game.On Offense the Bulldogs maintain balance and rarely turn the ball over.

- Devin Gentry has emerged as the Bulldogs bell-cow. Rushing for over 1000 yards and adding nearly 400 more catching it out of the backfield, all things begin around his production.

 

Lafayette

- Male has the best collection of team talent in the State, but Lafayette boasts the best collection of individual talent. Landon Young, Jedrick Willis, Walker Wood, and Alex Simpson are all Nationally Acclaimed Recruits who will be playing at the FBS Level. In case you were thinking it... YES... that is 3 Offensive Linemen. You would be hard pressed to find a more prestigious line in America.

- For all the deserved hoopla for the Generals elite recruits, possibly the best player at the High School Level is Mason Alstatt. Alstatt is on his way to Wofford as a DB, but he is perhaps the most versatile player on the Kentucky scene. He is a threat every single play to take it to the house whether it is catching, rushing, returning Interceptions, or returning kicks.

- Firmly in the foreground of everyone's mind is the Final Score from September 4th when Lafayette took it on the chin to Trinity 70-14. Not only did the General Defense get shredded, all 14 points came by way of Alstatt's Kick Returns as the General Offense was shut out. Lafayette has improved immensely since that score when temperatures will still high, especially on the Defensive side of the ball.

Analysis:

Does Lafayette have the talent to hang with Male? Absolutely. Have they proven thusfar that they have the firepower to not only contain the Bulldogs but also do something no other team has done and score enough points to win? Not so much.

It would not come as a major surprise to see the Generals hang tough in this game and even make it a few Male Bulldog supporters have to adjust their collar (pun fully intended), but Male has came to this point by playing fundamentally sound football and relying on arguably the best Defense in the Commonwealth. People will use the Trinity score and some of the early season shootouts to justify a Championship blowout, expect Lafayette to put that to bed, but in the end Male is clearly the best team in the State and will show why.

Lafayette will be fortunate to score, IMO.

Just another observation, "Lafayette's defense is improving"????? yet they have allowed more points in their last three playoff games (two ranked teams) than Male has allowed in their 14 game season to date (5 ranked teams). Lafayette offense (B) versus Male defense (A+); Lafayette defense © versus Male offense (A). Lafayette's grasp of hope hinges on unlikely chance Male will be overlooking them and Alstatt springing some spectacular returns as he did against Trinity. Know Coach Wolfe will have the Dawgs ready.

Male is great, so is T, interchangeable in my humble opinion, either one could compete w/ the top 6-15 in the country.. Top 5?? Not so sure

And, btw, LaFayette is gonna get toasted.. Would be nice if they actually seeded the brackets accordingly, but we all know that isn't gonna happen anytime soon
