Also hates off to Shelby. Preseason experts picked them to finish last in the district. Got things rolling and made it to the final 4. Not bad for a team that finished 3-8 last season.

This result just confirms to me that South Warren will be your 4A state champion.

South Warren is the real deal.. I'll eat my crow on the rushing yards.. this team is very hard nosed disciplined and they have some athletes coaching staff has done a great job with this program..

 

As for your comments about other teams putting up a better fight I didn't see either playing tonight so regardless of what you say these boys deserved to be here.

 

You can't have countless errors and mistakes and expect to beat a team like this.. Shelby had south Warren 4th and 2 and jumped offsides to start the game.

 

Congrats to South Warren and good luck moving forward this west is no Joke.

 

To the kids at Shelby County I want to commend this senior class for stepping up you don't go from 3-8 to 12-2 without the fight to win. You played a great season and for a team that no one expected you to be here you shocked the world!

I figured South Warren would win, but not like this. I would say they are a big favorite going against Johnson Central after tonight.

South is going to blank Johnson Central. Game will be over in an hour and 15 min.

No running clock in championship games.

I am wanting to see JC get a win...but let's be honest here... South Warren is absolutely rolling and I will be surprised if they don't win the 4A Title by 17+ points

I will say again for this team this season; a running team vs South D is a recipe for a loss. Shelby County is a good team but you cant run on South. Johnson Central will be the last to find this out. It is Souths year. Go close the deal Sunday!

Very good scouting report and execution, nice job by the coaching staff.

Shelby had a neck of a year and should be proud. To beat teams like SW, you have to be balanced and able to throw it.

SW can throw it better than I thought. Didn't have to throw for that many yards but when they do, the ball is tight and accurate.

Shelby lost to state champs.

What has makes South good is their ability to pin their opponents deep and keep them there which shortens their field of play because of very good special team play and great defensive play.

 

Their offensive play has continued to improve. South is run oriented because of generally having a short field of play. They are not afraid to throw the ball and will throw it if they have to.

 

From the beginning of the game South controlled the line of scrimmage. They drove the ball about 58 yards on opening drive. Yes a 4th and 2 penalty when Shelby Co jumped extended the drive and Litten finished with the TD run.

 

Shelby's first possession went backwards and 3 and out.

The daggers was the drive and score with around 16 seconds to go before half then the fumbled Squibb kick that south recovered on the 25 which resulted in the TD pass with about a second to go. That made it 28 -0 before half and was pretty much the game.

 

2nd half Shelby Co moved it a little to start 3rd quarter then had to punt which lead to South putting game away with drive score and 2pt conversion to start the running clock.

 

Shelby Co brought a big fan base down to the game. I know someone mentioned they thought Shelby had more fans at the game with about 15 min before kickoff but I don't think so. South's fans stay out in tailgate area until just before kick off. At kickoff Souths side was full and it was a great win for a program that's just in its 6th year.

 

Congrats Coach Smith on the win and his head coaching record now moves to 27-1 in his second year.
