South Warren 36 Shelby County 6

Has Jacob showed back up? Given him a couple of days, he made a bold prediction that SW was overrated. Shelby has a really nice team, but SW is on a different level defensively.

Haha...I think he has gone into hiding!

South fans, I hope I'm wrong but soak this championship experience in. Yes, you may come back in upcoming years; but there's nothing like winning your first championship. After these past couple years of the consistancy of winning at BG, you can see the support go down from fans and students. It will become expected of your program. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong that you keep your support! This year when you win state, everyone associated with south will be there, it won't be that way 4 years from now. Soak it all in, South!! Good luck!!

ThatBGPurple, I completely agree. It's amazing to see the number of people who have shown up in the last couple of weeks, especially the Shelby Co. game who previous to that hadn't been to a game in the last 6 yrs! I can assure you that many of those people weren't there for the heartbreaking loss to PT two years ago in the region finals or the killer at Lou Central in Semi State last year. They will be out in droves on Sunday to say they were a part of it and then disappear again when next season starts.

Say South Warren wins state this year. Here's my question, if South schedules a great team other than BG, let's say a team like Bryan Station or Lafayette. Teams that people around here aren't really familiar with, but are great teams. Would South fans and students show up to that game next year. The reason I exclude BG is because everyone would show up for that first meeting.

The answer is no.... The majority of South Warren fans only come out when the athletic teams (i.e. Football, basketball, baseball, etc...) make deep runs in the playoffs or when they play Greenwood (a rival I understood when the school opened, but makes little to no sense now). The stands were very skimpy when South played Warren Central. But to be fair, I don't think it's much better at any of the other schools in Bowling Green either...

You're absolutely correct, our crowds have only showed up in decent numbers when we've played St. X and McCallie onber the last 2 years. Maybe you could count the away game at Owensboro this year. I don't know what it is, but it's been hard to keep a stadium full the last few years (the most successful years of the programs)

Different times. The era of packed houses is by and large gone. I will say that the BG/WC regular season game in 2011 was the best attended BG game I've ever witnessed. But I've long heard of poor attendance over there, and there are few teams that are well attended often.
