I think the wet field hurt Danville more than anything. Great win for NCC.

First off, It was a pleasure spending the afternoon with @Wireman & @ADopted ADmiral at the Highlands/Pulaski Co. game, breaking bread at LaRosa's, then watching this one. Also, dined with @BigVMan23 (who attended this game as well) and @mexitucky.

 

Big dip of the cap to the NewCath defense, they came to play tonight (Danville did as well). I think the wet field had a lot to do with the low scoring affair, both teams had players taking some spills.

 

The 2pt conversion took HUGE nads to call, and Henschen and Smith pulled it off to perfection.....although Henschen was almost stopped.

 

Trent Wrobleski with a bigtime pick at the 50 yd line and getting shoestring tackled at the 1.

 

The Ads made things very interesting one their final drive, but came up short.......really feel bad for those kids. This was one of those games where you hate to see anyone have to lose.

Great year staff and players. Kudos to this bunch of seniors (16 in all)

Even though it was 0-0 at half and only 7-0 it felt like Danville was in control in the second half. The one QB scramble and flip pass to RB was huge. It gave NCC life. They scored and then the 2 point conversion was epic. Pick 6 followed and Danville down 8 made play after play to keep the drive alive....with no Timeouts!!! Great composure on their part.

I agree, until the play that you're talking about, Danville was in control IMO.

I felt Danville got a little conservative late but it was just one of those games...mistake here or there determines outcome. Two good teams. Bad field conditions

With respect if you let a turf field in a light rain effect your performance you probably shouldn't be playing in November when it is often wetter and even colder.

 

 

The biggest play in this game to me was that missed short Field Goal early on. A 10-0 lead late in the 4th may have completely changed the complexion of this game.

 

Once again though, missing a 19 yard Field Goal is something you can do this time of the year and expect to win.

Exactly what we were talking about at halftime. Again, both defenses played their butts off.

Actually I did, even though it pains me to say this but Danville actually out played NCC. No they didn't win, but Danville was clearly the better team. You take those 2 tds that got called back and NCC loses the game. NCC had about 100 yards of total offense against Danville defense. Danville misses the field goal early in the first half also. NCC congrats on the win but IMO you had plenty of help. And Wheatley is the best back in 2A East!

Nope but I watched the entire First Quarter and a good section of the 3rd and 4th Quarters while giving passing glances of the middle sections.

Nice season by Danville. I felt all year that the Ads were a year away from being a true that to win the 2A title. They should be right back here next season but with the game at home. I can't help but wonder if the difference in schedule quality made a difference in this one.
