November 25, 201510 yr Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they should be ahead of OU and Bama. I was just saying that if they had played one of those teams and won they would be ahead of them. But they didn't play any of those 3 teams so they shouldn't be ahead of Bama and OU. But I think it's perfectly fine to put them ahead of ND and Baylor despite not playing any of those teams. I'm not saying reward them for "if". If I was trying to reward for "if" I would pick a much better team than Iowa. You are rewarding them for "if" by having them in the conversation at this point.
November 25, 201510 yr Author You are rewarding them for "if" by having them in the conversation at this point. Well if you don't think Iowa is at least deserving of being in the conversation right now, then you're in the minority. Nothing I or anyone can say could change your opinion anyways.
November 25, 201510 yr How are Oklahoma and Iowa ahead of Michigan St, and maybe even Notre Dame? Oklahoma lost to a bad Texas team and would have lost to an average Tennessee team without help from both the stripes and the Tenn. coaching staff. They beat Baylor and TCU, who were both playing without their star QB's. Iowa has not played any real good teams, which is shown by their strength of schedule.:idunno:
November 25, 201510 yr I don't think Iowa should be in the top 4 for the same reason I didn't think Houston should have been last week while undefeated.
November 25, 201510 yr Well if you don't think Iowa is at least deserving of being in the conversation right now, then you're in the minority. Nothing I or anyone can say could change your opinion anyways. The rankings are as of today/this week. Iowa has done nothing to prove they're top 4. Being undefeated isn't enough.
November 25, 201510 yr Iowa is in if they win out, as they should be, and they are out if (WHEN) they lose this weekend or in B10 Title game. Why the consternation on November 25? They have played a bad schedule, but are undefeated from a P5 league on Thanksgiving, no one can genuinely be shocked they are listed in a Top 4 spot. Even if you are, it will sort itself out.

November 26, 201510 yr The fact that they are 4 shows the flaw in the system. That's the argument. The committee has tripped over themselves saying these rankings aren't predictors, just how it would be if the season ended today. If you don't like that an undefeated P5 team would be in, even with a tomato can schedule, go crazy. I'm simply saying, it neither surprises me nor bothers me. If they are undefeated in two and a half weeks, they are in and I'm fine with it.

Michigan St has beaten OSU at OSU with backup QB's, Michigan at Michigan and Oregon (that win is looking better and better). MSU's loss was on a terrible ref call at Nebraska. Oklahoma got beat by a bad Texas team. In other words, MSU has better wins than Oklahoma and a better loss. For them to be behind a one loss Oklahoma is nuts. I really think that the committee is basically counting the Michigan win as a loss due to the strange, fluky ending. That is the only thing I can think of. I want chaos the next two weeks...NC beating Clemson, Florida beating Bama, Penn St beating MSU, Ok St beating OK, Stanford beating ND, Iowa losing a game...if a few of these things happen, it will be very interesting.
November 26, 201510 yr Spartans have the best bunch of wins of those teams in the mix. Oregon, Michigan and Ohio State.
November 26, 201510 yr Difference is OSU played two ranked Big 10 teams that year. Iowa will go through their ENTIRE season with their only challenging opponent being Northwestern. You cannot reward soft schedules IMO. Bama SOS #8 OU #32 BS on Bama SOS. They've played nobody, and beaten nobody. That SOS garbage is built by the same people that every year found a way to get 9 SEC teams in the top 20. It's not an objective indicator, GIGO on the program.
November 26, 201510 yr Watch what happens when ND wins Saturday, Iowa wins out, Clemson, Alabama, and OU all win out. ND will be on the outside looking in, and 8 teams will be in as soon as this contract runs out.

Even the looniest UK basketball whackos are laughing at the above.
November 29, 201510 yr Oklahoma now locked into the playoffs Clemson still has work to do...question is does UNC jump several teams and get if they beat Clemson. Does a 1 loss Clemson get in over say Ohio State? Alabama must win or they are out...not sure Florida gets in even with a win Iowa and Mich St winner is in...lower outside looking in. Ohio St has to hope Florida and Clemson win...If that happens they may very well slide right back in.
November 29, 201510 yr 1. Oklahoma (lock) 2. Clemson (win and in) 3. Alabama (win and in) 4. Big 10 Winner Could also see Stanford with a big win in the title game getting in if Clemson or Alabama slip up.
