Honestly, if I'm a ND fan I am extremely worried. I think they will need help to get in now even if they beat Stanford. I thought the committee was really high on them and then to put three new teams in front of them in a week in which they won is crazy. Ohio State only dropped to 8 and they lost. It certainly confirms that the committee is finally agreeing with what I have been saying all along that ND just really is not that great. Personally I had Oklahoma in the top 4 last week, and I truly think they are playing better than anyone in the country right now and I'm glad that the committee has told them that all they have to do is win. I fully expect them to go on an OSU type run like that year.

ND's only loss was a very close game on the road to the #1 team. Oklahoma jumps them yet ND destroyed the same team to hand OU their only loss.

1. Clemson - Win out, South Carolina and UNC and in. Could maybe still get in with loss to USC and strong win over UNC

2. Alabama - Has to win out, loss to Auburn or Florida and they are out.

3. Oklahoma - Beat Oklahoma State and they are in...lose and they are gone!

4. Iowa - Must win out over Nebraska and in Big 10 Title game...I'm not sure a Big 10 title after a loss to Nebraska would be enough to get them in. They would have to dominate in the title game if they lose to the Huskers this week, to have any chance.

5. Michigan State - Beat Penn St. then Iowa and they are IMO in. A loss in either and they aren't getting in.

6. Notre Dame - Must first beat Stanford at Stanford and hope Big 10 is a mess or OU and/or Alabama lose...A Dominant win at Stanford would help them A LOT!!!

7. Baylor - Need to dominate TCU and Texas PLUS Oklahoma has to lose to OSU.

8. Ohio State - Beat Michigan or it's over...then have Penn St beat Mich St...then beat

Iowa in Big 10 Title...if that all falls in place and they dominate Michigan and Iowa they could slide right back in

9. Stanford - Beat Notre Dame then have UCLA beat USC handidly...then beat UCLA in a dominant fashion in the PAC Title game...and hope Big 12 goes crazy, Alabama loses and something crazy in the Big 10 happens...then they might slide in.

10. Michigan - Beat OSU, have Penn St Beat Mich St, then Michigan Dominate Iowa in the Title game...plus have Alabama and Oklahoma lose to help out.

11. Oklahoma St -beat OU 1st and hope a lot of crazy stuff happens. They were in top 6 last week a big win this week could get them close to top 4 with a lot of help.

Don't sleep on #14 North Carolina (10-1) need to beat NC State this week and then if they were to upset Clemson in the ACC Title game I personally would take them over a lot of these teams. If they win out, there is a path for them to make it, they would need some help but they could get there.

IMO

ACC -Clemson or maybe UNC will get in

SEC -Alabama or bust...#12 Florida has an outside shot with wins over Florida St and Alabama to end the season if those were to happen and just 1 loss they could make a decent case to get in.

Big 10 -Undefeated Iowa or a Big 10 of either Champ Mich St, Ohio St or Michigan

Big 12 -Oklahoma likely Baylor with an outside shot

Pac 12 -not this year.

Independents -Notre Dame or Bust

MichSt controls their destiny. Doesn't matter if they're 4 or 5 now since Iowa is on the schedule.

I don't see how Iowa is 4 though. SOS of 67. You can't reward that.

Two teams in front of them have losses (one with a bad loss) and Iowa has a zero in the loss column. The committee has shown an ability to overlook certain aspects of teams (like losses for Bama and Oklahoma) in place of how they are playing right now. Iowa, while they do not have a great SOS is undefeated in a power 5 conference going into the last game of the season. That has to count for something. I heard a good comparison the other day for Iowa. The 2002 Bucks. They didn't impress anyone, they didn't blow a bunch of teams out by scoring a lot of points or anything, they just simply won football games. I'm sure there a probably other comparisons where the undefeated team get destroyed by good competition, but I'll be positive and say they are the '02 Buckeyes.

Well I was wrong on this. I thought Oklahoma would have to win convincly this week over Oklahoma state if they were going to make the jump.

However Stoops teams over the last 10 years have always seemed to falter once they get ranked high. So wouldn't be surprised if they lost this week now. Almost lost to a backup qb last week.

Clemson doesn't play Florida....

Clemson doesn't play Florida....

My bad...I was looking at so many schedules...Clemson plays South Carolina then UNC.

Big Red takes care of the Iowa issue Friday in Lincoln.

I agree....At this point I think we'll see Clemson, Alabama, Michigan State, and Oklahoma as the playoff.

Difference is OSU played two ranked Big 10 teams that year.

Iowa will go through their ENTIRE season with their only challenging opponent being Northwestern. You cannot reward soft schedules IMO.

Bama SOS #8

OU #32

Bama SOS #8

OU #32

Their soft schedule is the reason they aren't 2 behind Clemson. Bama and OU are in front of them because of SOS. If Iowa had played OSU, MSU, or Mich. and they won they would be in front of Bama and OU. The committee is clearly taking that into account. They are willing to overlook their SOS when comparing them to Baylor and ND, but not OU and Bama. When referring 02 OSU I was speaking more to style of play. Not necessarily the teams they beat.

If Iowa had played....? Why are you insisting we reward "if?"

Everyone screams about perception about Bama and now you're wanting to reward a team for not playing good teams? IF? Come on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they should be ahead of OU and Bama. I was just saying that if they had played one of those teams and won they would be ahead of them. But they didn't play any of those 3 teams so they shouldn't be ahead of Bama and OU. But I think it's perfectly fine to put them ahead of ND and Baylor despite not playing any of those teams. I'm not saying reward them for "if". If I was trying to reward for "if" I would pick a much better team than Iowa.
