CFB Playoff Rankings This Week 1-10

Clemson

Oklahoma

Iowa

Alabama

Michigan St

Ohio State

Stanford

Can't wait to watch Alabama vs a team with even a decent QB and an offensive game plan not from 1954. Still waiting to hear justification for their SOS BS. Who have they beaten?

Going to be real interesting to see how they have the rankings this week...

My guess...

1. Clemson

2. Alabama

3. Oklahoma

4. Iowa

5. Michigan State

6. Stanford

7. Ohio State

8. North Carolina

9. Florida State

10. Notre Dame

It looks like it will be pretty straight forward if everyone takes care of business:

Oklahoma is definitely in

Alabama beats Florida (which they should beat decisively) and they are in

Winner of Michigan St / Iowa is in

Clemson if they win are in

Where it gets interesting, if NC beats Clemson this weekend. Does NC jump everyone and get in or does Stanford (if they beat USC) or Ohio State sneak back in?

For what it's worth, which is nothing, here are my rankings for this, the week before conference title games ....

1. Clemson

2. Alabama

3. Oklahoma

4. Iowa

5 Michigan State

6. Ohio State

7. Stanford

(and I am not so sure that Sparty shouldn't be at #4, OSU #5, Iowa #6 )

SOS seems pretty straight forward:

Bama has played 7 games vs Sagarin's top 30 (6-1). Buckeyes have played only 2 (1-1).

Bama SOS is 5. OSU is 60.

I'm not sure what the argument is in this area.

You can argue OSU is "better" but it's purely subjective (and may still be correct).

Do we want a lot of "subjectivity" involved?

Clemson has to win or there out. UNC has a 0% chance in my eyes. Bama is obviously win and there in but this game will be a lot closer than most think. Stanford has to have both Clemson and Bama lose and Ohio State just has to have 1 of these things happen and they're in. No way to keep Ohio State out if Bama or Clemson lose.

I think it all depends on where UNC, Stanford, and Ohio State are this week.

Committee gives a lot of weight to conference champions and UNC beating Clemson would mean they are conference champion in Power 5 conference with one loss. Their loss is bad but it was the first game of the year just like Ohio State last year. And would have beat the number 1 team.

This. That's why I'm very interested to see where UNC, Stanford, and Ohio State are this week. If UNC is top 7, and I'm assuming they will be, a win over #1 Clemson would put them in IMO.

Will Ohio State stay ahead of Stanford? Both had wins over top 10 teams, Stanford at home over #6, Ohio State on the road over #10. Regardless, will the fact that Stanford will be playing the conference title game against a top 25 opponent, while Ohio State is idle, catapult the Cardinal ahead of Ohio State in the final rankings? Lots of intrigue, but none of it will matter if Clemson and Bama take care of business.

UNC will be 10th if I had to guess. I think they are going to have to have something else happen for them to get in. I think there is a good possibility Bama jumps Clemson this week and I also wouldn't be surprised if they put OU in front of them too. Clemson hasn't looked as good for the last couple of weeks and Bama and OU are rolling.

They were 14th last week and I think they move in front of everyone that got beat last week in front of them (ND, Baylor, Mich, Ok ST, FL) which I think moves them to 8th. I think they jump Ohio State if they win this weekend since Ohio State is not playing. They will jump the winner of Mich St and Iowa. That leaves Stanford and I think they would put NC over a 2 loss Stanford.

ND will still be in front of them. There 2 losses are to top 7 teams, both on the road, and both came down to the very end. Committee loves ND. Also if you want to argue Ohio State thats fine, but you're wrong. But to argue that they will jump Iowa/ Michigan State is laughable.

If they're 8th, you don't think they'll jump an idle Ohio State if they beat #1 Clemson? I do. I'm fairly certain he meant the loser of the Michigan State/Iowa game.

They will jump the loser of this game. I think if they beat Clemson, they will leapfrog Ohio State just like last year when OSU leapfrogged the TCU and Baylor because they sat home. Do I think Ohio State is better, absolutely. But it's not going to matter. They may not jump Notre Dame tomorrow but you are going to have the same scenario, I think they will jump Notre Dame because they will be sitting home this weekend too. And no way Florida State stays in front of them at the end if UNC is the conference champion from the same conference with only one loss.

The argument is that Sagarin is another one of those garbage polls skewed to the SEC, you know the ones that ensured every year that as long as the SEC champ had less than 3 losses they were in? Where in the world did you did that irrelevant poll up? That reeks of desperation. " lemme go find some irrelevant obscure poll and break it out". Cmon man, you're better than that. What's next, Harris Poll? Or Feinbaums top 30? Maybe Tide Weekly?
