November 30, 201510 yr Author If they're 8th, you don't think they'll jump an idle Ohio State if they beat #1 Clemson? I do. I'm fairly certain he meant the loser of the Michigan State/Iowa game. If they're 8th maybe, but they won't be 8th.
November 30, 201510 yr If they're 8th maybe, but they won't be 8th. I disagree. We'll find out tomorrow though. All of this is most likely moot though. Clemson and Bama will most likely both take care of business and we'll have nothing to talk about next week. :lol2:
November 30, 201510 yr Author They will jump the loser of this game. I think if they beat Clemson, they will leapfrog Ohio State just like last year when OSU leapfrogged the TCU and Baylor because they sat home. Do I think Ohio State is better, absolutely. But it's not going to matter. They may not jump Notre Dame tomorrow but you are going to have the same scenario, I think they will jump Notre Dame because they will be sitting home this weekend too. And no way Florida State stays in front of them at the end if UNC is the conference champion from the same conference with only one loss. I think you all are acting like this committee is the old AP way of doing things. They are subjective and I don't think they could sit around the room and say that UNC is better than Ohio State. They want the 4 best teams in.

But Clemson has not played well these past 3-4 weeks. Their defense has a bunch of holes that they need to sure up if they are going to beat UNC.

They showed last year that they put a lot of weight on conference title games. Hence why Ohio State jumped Baylor and TCU last year. I feel if UNC can put a win over Clemson on their resume, it trumps Ohio State's. JMO.

They might but they shouldn't, particularly if MI St wins. That would Make OSU's loss look all the better. Combine that with defending champs and I think they make it if Clemson or Bama loses. If it's Clemson losing that would set up a rematch of Bama-OSU which the committee/TV should like.
December 1, 201510 yr Here is something I didn't realize until they were discussing it this morning. If you remember the Ole Miss / Miss St game a few weeks ago where Miss St scored on the crazy lateral on 4th down and then won in OT, if Ole Miss wins this game they would be playing in the SEC championship game instead of Alabama. Then what would have happened in the polls? Ole Miss and FL in the championship game while the Tide sit at home.

December 1, 201510 yr That was Arkansas v Ole Miss. You are correct, sir, my apologies. Same scenario though.

I feel if UNC can put a win over Clemson on their resume, it trumps Ohio State's. JMO. I think part of the reason Ohio State got in last year was because they were conference champs, but I think the main reason was the way they won. 59-0. I think UNC would have to win convincingly in order to jump Ohio State or Stanford if they beat USC.

And I also think Ohio State is better than both teams.
December 1, 201510 yr Author I think if both UNC and Stanford win, one of those two will get in before Ohio State. And I also think Ohio State is better than both teams. Stanford more than likely does, I just think the committee would be really hesitant to put UNC in unless they win convincingly and I don't see that happening. But I'm sure by now you know how I feel about Ohio State.
