I mean he didn't exactly throw the ball tonight either, they just ran QB draw after QB draw. They weren't even calling read options tonight, which were where JT has broken off most of his big runs this year. I just don't get it.

Agreed. I hate questioning football coaches but this game was ridiculous.

How many major college head coaches call the plays for their teams? Obviously they would have to be "offensive" minded head coaches. For example, Saban is more of defensive guy so he will always have another guy calling plays. I am surprised Urban doesn't want to call the plays anyway. I wonder if he ever did at Florida...

I think Urban has a great system, but his system requires being 100% in sync with the OC and that hasn't been the case clearly all year. Urban just has to build that with the current guys between now and next year, or find someone he knows and trusts to run his offense.

I think he would but he's a Texas boy. It all depends on where he goes next, his next job would match OSU dollar for dollar.

Does he have ties to UT? Because I feel like that is the only school in Texas that could offer him equal to Ohio State.

My only guess is they weren't counting on Elliott being 100% for the game, but even if they weren't, Ohio State has a capable core of backs behind him who could certainly have done enough to keep the running back in the game plan.

Correct, Dan Mullen was awesome for Meyer at Florida and a key piece of the puzzle. Nobody is calling for Warinner or Beck this offseason and that's a problem given all the weapons they had this year.

They have to be out of the conversation now. Bad home loss to a team playing a back up QB. .

I didn't see the game but saw Twitter saying Cook was warming up before the game. He didn't play at all?

Nope, not one snap. The 2nd and 3rd team QB's both played.

So Urban did not call his own plays at Fla then??

Many didn't trust Dan Mullen at UF his first couple of years. He really didn't find his stride until the 2nd national championship. Tebows Heisman year, which was the year before, lots of fans thought he didn't know how to use all that talent. The rest is history of course, but it takes time for coaches to run the offense the way Urban wants.

For as great a coach as Urban is , How did he blow it that badly today ? even rival fans were puzzled by what happened today . It just looked dysfunctional .

Like someone said " they managed both NOT to pass any AND not get the ball to Elliott " .

Not to my knowledge, he would override plays but he does this at OSU as well.

I think the play calling has been suspect all year. It just finally blew up in the coaches' faces tonight.

For your Heisman Trophy candidate running back to get two carries in the second half of a game you are either winning or tied the whole time...think about that for a minute...

I think it just takes Urban and his OC's a year or two to get on the same page. It happened in '13 in the B1G championship game. Ohio State was completely out game planned that game and it was similar to this game in that they didn't give the ball to Hyde that game. I'm sort of torn on whether or not I want these OC's back or not. History tells us that Urban and his OC's get more on the same page after a year or two, but this game looked so bad, it's hard not to react severely.
