November 13, 201510 yr I've honestly never seen a gym I didn't want to check out. They are all on my bucket list.
November 13, 201510 yr Went to Butler a few years ago and loved it. Also went to old Roberts Stadium in Evansville and loved it. Lots of cool displays but it's now closed. Want to go to: Palestra Rose Hill - Fordham Duke Kansas Oregon State Augusta High School
November 13, 201510 yr None. Zero. An infinitesimal amount. Nary a shred. I will take them seriously when THEY take them seriously. NEW YORK'S ONE TRUE TEAM, MENTSCH!

November 13, 201510 yr Monosodium Glutamate Cameron Indoor Allen Fieldhouse University Arena (New Mexico) Augusta High School Wait...you've never been there?
November 13, 201510 yr Always enjoyed Eastern Ky. Gym when the all A was played there. Also a treat to go to Augusta to watch a game.
November 13, 201510 yr Some of my favorite college gyms so far... - Rupp Arena...Rupp is Rupp. It's a must see on your list - KFC Yum! Center...nicest arena in college basketball? Quite possibly - Kohl Center (Wisconsin)...big, beautiful arena with lively fans. I recommend this one - O'Connell Center (Florida)...smaller than you think but incredible atmosphere - Assembly Hall (Indiana)...best game day atmosphere I've ever been in. Ever. - Memorial Gym (Vanderbilt)...Kevin Stallings once kicked me out of the gym because he caught me watching practice. Seriously. - Reed Green Coliseum (Southern Miss)...Really old school arena. Black and yellow, black and yellow. - Coleman Coliseum (Alabama)...nothing really special about the arena but the people were as nice as it gets. - Colonial Life Arena (South Carolina)...right behind the Yum! Center for nicest arena you'll find. - Cintas Center (Xavier)...not gigantic but this one is top notch in every way. - Fifth Third Arena (Cincinnati)...needs upgraded but was cool to check out. Has the feel of a high school gym. - Cam Henderson Center (Marshall)...also needs upgraded but I enjoyed checking it out - East Kentucky Expo Center (UPIKE)...definitely the nicest arena in NAIA - Johnson Arena (Morehead State)...my own college has to be on the list - Thompson-Boling Arena (Tennessee)...another one that you just have to check out. It's huge and really orange. - Mackey Arena (Purdue)...old school arena with a new school feel. - State Farm Center (Illinois)...this one kind of looks like a space ship. Really. - Cassell Coliseum (Virginia Tech)...really old piece of crap arena but was still cool
November 13, 201510 yr Allen Fieldhouse for me. Just to hear the zombie sounding "Rock Chalk Jayhawk........... KKKKKKKKUUUUUU" chant. When walking to the Superdome for the 2012 Finals, groups of fans were chanting (not loudly) this in unison and I was pumped up just thinking about it. Sorry about your luck. And when we are talking visiting venues, my presumption is for a game. A guy I know went to Cameron one day and he was shocked at how small the gym was, especially the student section that you see on television. My wife's Aunt and Uncle are Duke alums and receive a few tickets each year. They used to hate the experience but some recent upgrades make it more enjoyable for non-student fans. Not sure how anything is better than the Yum! Center, but I don't consider it sacred. Has there ever been a team turn around their venue fortunes more than UL? Freedom Hall was rough. Rupp, meh. This thread makes me miss old Racer Arena. Anyone here get to take in a game there? It was special. And scorching hot. I've also wanted to take in a game at Oklahoma State. That is supposed to be a great experience.
November 13, 201510 yr I'm going to go to Allen Fieldhouse and hopefully Pitt and Michigan this season. I'm sure some other places might come along. Rupp is nowhere near the game day atmosphere as some of these other places. But it's still Rupp. It has to be on any list. I have always wanted to check out a big game at Oklahoma State. It looks incredible on TV.

Freedom Hall was rough. Just being in the Yum Center does give me a certain nostalgia about Freedom Hall... especially if you sit in the upper balcony level. For all Freedom Hall's flaws, almost every seat felt like you were close in on the action (unless you were at the top behind the backboards, which I did experience for one full season while I was a grad student. And strangely enough, for being a place with monster truck rallies and horse shows... I miss the smell.

Still angry at Digger for the stall ball game.
