AKA ... The Pit.

Watched the Louisville-West Virginia "Pittsnoggle" game there.

Walking in and going DOWN is definitely different.

While near the Isotopes Ballpark -- cool in its own right -- The Pit is away from downtown and the business sector of ABQ. Not a whole lot to eat/do nearby, IMO.

Let's quit kidding ourselves UK fans, Rupp sucks.

It's the home of UK and it's big. Other than that, not a whole lot going for it.

Give me Yum or Freedom Hall or Diddle or the Louisville Garden any day.

As far as nice, it's probably No. 3 in Kentucky behind Yum and the BoK Center (NKU, new girls' state tourney home).

When I go out of state and people ask if I've been to Rupp, it's like they're in awe. Not really that impressed, for big UK games (seen several UK-UofL games there, also saw UK-UNC), sweet 16 or concerts.

One good thing about Rupp: Access via "the back" on Old Frankfort Pike. Makes getting out a breeze. In that regard, Rupp is better than Freedom Hall (NEVER easy to get out).

Wait...you've never been there?

Nope.

I just hope that I make it there once before I depart this ethereal plane.

Some of my favorite college gyms so far...

- Thompson-Boling Arena (Tennessee)...another one that you just have to check out. It's huge and really orange.

I went there soon after it opened, SEC tournament. Last game for Eddie Sutton and the boys.

Matter of fact, I ate dinner the next table over from them one evening.

And crashed the press party.

Nope.

When you decide to attend one, let me know. I'll bring the popcorn.

Was Eddie sober during that meal?

I like this list a lot. I've never been to a game at Hinkle Fieldhouse either. I'd love to visit there.

I heard the free-throw lines at Hinkle are 15 feet from the baseline & the baskets are 10 feet high.

Hinkle would be neat also.

If I'm not mistaken Cameron and the Dean Dome are off of the same exit, or quite close.
