Just think how good he will be when he gets the mental aspect down. And if he played in all the spring training games, he would have ran away with MVP this year.

Have talked to a few people who think Votto very well may win it.

 

Their logic: None of the finalists teams were worth a darn, so the whole played for a winning team argument holds no water. Also, and most importantly, many in the baseball world can't stand Bryce Harper.

 

Not sure I agree with it, but it's an interesting perspective on it.

 

You're right that none of the three played on a team that was worth a damn. I think Votto has a very good chance of finishing 2nd (ahead of Goldschmidt). As good as Votto was, Harper was better. It may be that people vote against Harper, but I think he wins.

 

Bryce Harper:

 

.330 AVG, .460 OBP, 42 HR, 99 RBI & 118 RBI. That's tough to beat, even if you are a jerk.

The good thing with Votto, the majority of his game won't age with him. He is a contact guy who has a great eye. His obp will be pretty good still when the contract is at the end of its life.
