November 9, 201510 yr Or run the risk of people thinking you're extremely over the top and not to be taken serious at all...... Most blacks don't expect their claims of racism to be taken seriously. It's just the way it is. This all could have been avoided if the president would have simply said that the racial incidents on his campus will not be tolerated. That's all he had to say. He had multiple times to do it and failed each time. Now he has a dude on a hunger strike and a bunch of black football players taking a stand against what some call systematic and institutionalized racism.

November 9, 201510 yr I am glad they stood up to protest. This is what it takes to make a change. We have an inherent right to stand up for our beliefs, but in the process must be willing to face the consequences which could be losing their scholarship.

November 9, 201510 yr So if I go to a campus and draw a hate symbol somewhere, the President will have to step down. So if I go to Wash DC and draw a few hate symbols will Obama quit if people protest?
November 9, 201510 yr If that President steps down or is fired, that opens up a can of worms that I don't think anybody wants opened. If he didn't give these issues the proper amount of attention, then he needs to apologize for it, fall on his sword, and make the students believe that he acknowledges the situation and will do something to change them. Firing the President does absolutely NOTHING to remedy the situation.

And Im sure there is more than just that, but it keeps being mentioned.

November 9, 201510 yr If that's the case, maybe there's more to this President than we know about. Yes and no. While this may have merit, it is fashionable for faculty to hammer University Presidents anywhere you go. Especially when it is for a cause.
