I still don't fully understand the direct beef with the president or what he did to deserve to lose his job. I do like that a coach who had players commit to him , that he stays committed to them.

I agree on not fully understanding. It seems like multiple representatives from the University spoke out about these incidents but the Presidents lack of public response early on is costing him. Public figure or not I just think it's silly for people to get upset because they feel you don't react to someone else's actions appropriately. Maybe I'm insensitive, I just felt like I'd live a miserable life if I went around getting upset about how someone else didn't react to a situation the way I'd like for them to. Maybe I'm burying my head in the sand, I just see it as choosing to lead a much less stressful life. Also think a list of demands which essentially would include either creating new jobs or getting rid of current employees just want to replace them with other minorities is a bit over the top.

November 9, 201510 yr Again I'm still confused, on specific events that the administration participated in that would lead to this. The one example I see is when the 11 students were protesting. There are probably legitimate gripes and some sensible solutions that can be had. But the list of demands reminds me of the movie Braveheart when William Wallace rode out to "negotiate"peace.

November 9, 201510 yr Can't imagine the president survives this. I don't think there was much anyone could do about the various racial incidences reported on campus this fall, except to take them seriously. From what I can gather, the president has been repeatedly tone-deaf in his responses to the issues and the protests. There's a video out there of him addressing a group of protesters and his response to them was essentially a giant eye-roll, like a kid whose mom tells him to go clean his room. Like I said, the various things that happened weren't his fault, but it's also hard to put together a charitable defense of his handling of the situation. And perception is everything.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people that look for any and every possible reason to dismiss racism. It isn't like the issues at Mizzou are fabricated. They were just pushed aside as minor and are now going national. The school President took it lightly as the issue started to boil. Now the heat is on him. That's part of the job, right???
