Ryle 31 Dixie Heights 14

From what I have seen, Ryle has what they have on the line. If Ryle wants to get better maybe England should play on the line. What Ryle has on the bench for back ups can't play on Friday nights. He is Bigger than 3 of them for sure. Its playoff time. Get your best players on the field in order to win. Not time for making Johnny and jimmy or their parents to feel good about themselves! From what I have seen this year and I saw a few of the Ryle games, Ryle tries to get to the edge and you have to go hard and fast. If #7 ran hard and fast and used his god given body he would be on the field. I have seen a back who dances too much and doesn't hit the hole hard enough. He could run over any linebacker he has played to this point. Haven't seen it. Same can be said about #5. Smallest 6a football player I ever saw took him out last week. Look like Tarzans, play like Janes!

Follow -up - If I was a linebacker and #7 hit me on the run lowering his shoulder a couple of times, guess what....I'm thinking a little more about how bad I want to get hit again! He is a man amongst boys but he must play that way, as do his teammates. Ryle is as good of a team in Northern Ky as any. They just need to put it all on the line.

Can't tackle anyone at shoulder level, have to get them at the legs. I have seen way too many players try to shoulder tackle or just hit someone and they bounce off and runner keeps going. This is not just a HS level issue, pros are doing it more and more

He knows how to lower his pads, if he's dancing there is no hole. I've seen all our backs getting gang tackled in the backfield or at the line too much. You can't run someone over when you're getting hit twice before you get to the 2nd level. When 7 gets there we have seen him run wild. He will put 200 on you if you give it to him 20 times. Not 3 or 4 and it didn't work so we give up on it. Running backs need to get a feel and rythym. Every touch won't be a homerun. Not run twice and wait 1 quarter. That doesn't work for backs. Not many anyway.

Good points Nation! I hope he gets to show his stuff this week and if they win again the following. He just needs to run over the competition at this point!

Run to set up the pass. It doesn't work well the other way around.

Cannot believe what I am reading in this thread. Are we really bashing high school kids, whether it be running backs, line, QB or whatever other position you want to choose?

I think the kid is a stud and something doesn't pass the smell test. This is not a shot at Ryle at all...talking strickly about the RB situation...but sense Ryle has really just recently got to the tough part of their schedule, they seem to be struggling and CE isn't playing...doesn't it say that really none of the running back seem to be producing like they hoped. Saying one is better than the other really tells us nothing because Ryle has struggled against the decent teams. So no one is really producing. I think I'd take my chances with pounding England and play action passing out of it.

They made adjustments to the line by moving Ross to Left guard and Bisek to Left Tackle. Ryle's OLine is definitely better at pass blocking than Run Blocking. But they can run block and run block well as proved vs Highlands. The issue I see is what the previous poster said, passing to set up the run. Dropped passes have killed Ryle on 1st and 2nd downs. Forcing 3rd and long and another pass play. That is why CE or other RBs not seeing a run play for series at a time. CE moved to the slot and has done great. I don't think he has dropped more than one pass yet. Dixie had success blitzing a corner. Hard for the Left tackle to kick step and block him when he has to contend with a D Lineman. Without a RB there to pick up the Corner they have to rely on Morgan stepping up in the pocket and getting the ball off which he is great at doing. At times, the route isn't open yet so it appears as though he is hurrying. Nation said it, it is a team thing. Line not run blocking the best, WR dropping the ball on 1st and 2nd downs, play calling, etc. 8-2 record isn't bad considering where they were the last two years.

From the "two cents" department: the coaches see everything that goes on during the pre-season and season, are at every practice, they understand what is best for the team and they make decisions with that mindset with a goal that the players would experience success in football and life. It's up to the players to buy into what is best for the team. Dads, we love our sons, but the coaches decide what is best for the team and that decision should be respected. Selfishness says: the coaches should have done this, this coach should do that, my Sonny should be playing here or there. Just maybe there are sound reasons for decisions that are made in the best interest of the team and in line with what happens in practice and the coaches' game plans and philosophies (which will never make everyone happy). It's not about being happy, it's about being unselfish and getting prepared for success on and off the field. If every player on Ryle sells out and gives 100% effort in every practice and game the rest of the year, it will be an exciting run. It's up to the players - maybe even putting in extra work like catching more balls after practice. Extra effort and unselfishness: that's what makes a great TEAM and builds a great program!

Same old story. The blame game.

Ryle is averaging more yards rushing per game and more yards per carry this season than they did last season. I think some people are upset that the numbers are coming from different places than before.

Hearing the young man always seems to having nagging injuries every week and misses practice during the week, but on game day he's somehow 100%, if true, I could understand why his coach isn't playing him very much.

One thing to make unfounded and irrational digs on an NFL player, but your are out of line here with a HS kid. I know it's not in your DNA, but try to show a little class.
