I agree. CE has the potential to draw the LB's attention with his ability to power through level 1. He may not be a tailback, but he is definitely more of a threat at fullback with the option to run or catch out of the backfield than out on the edge 1 on 1. JMO

36 carries in 7 games makes it hard to get a rhythm.

 

Less than 4 yards per carry makes it a tough decision to give him more carries.

I completely agree that he has been under used. If you are at the games, you can hear the frustration with the run game. The crowd cheers when they see a handoff or a pitch. Pass attempts on 1st and 2nd, then being forced to pass on 3rd means less carries for all the RBs. I really do think that CE has held his head up high and looking for the good of the entire team. For that he gets my 110 percent respect. But it has to be frustrating. They did go to him in the 4th vs Dixie and he pounded them and scored. Wouldn't surprise me if his carries increase in the Playoffs.

They tried to pound the ball with England last year and he got injuiried. Keeping at the slit he is staying healthy this year. They might have saved him for the playoffs?

This is the other thing I was thinking. I feel that HHS did that a couple years ago with Towles. They didn't run him A lot during the season and then opened him up in the playoffs. Maybe the coaches are smarter than we think!

England lacks the vision to see the hole as well as the Chisholm kid and doesn't run people over as well as the Bateman kid. Ask any player or coach on their team and they'll tell you the same thing. He's just not consistent, which resulted in reduced touches. They can't move people up front this year (smaller OL) so you have to be patient and watch your blocks develop. He has struggled to do that.

We just simply don't have the ability to drive block and pick up the free defenders coming without a full back in the game. Chisolm is quicker and can bounce around laterally. But why we leave him in the game in short yardage is another question. We have three different runners. Bateman finishes his runs better, overall better speed, he does not run people over better. CE breaks tackles and moves the pile, a lot of yardage after contact, You need to give him a hole for him be effective. Chisolm can cut his way and is quick enough to make the defenders become chasers. We have not changed the offense one bit for any of these kids. If we were smart enough to put in packages for the styles of runners we have the offense would be able to utilize their aspects and talents better. But we don't. CE may be the best fit in the group to carry the ball at the next level. He will need to go to a school that has a power-game scheme. He's a horse not a rabbit. Chisolm has two more years to build a college ready body , not there yet. Bateman is going to run track at the next level.

What is the status on England at the next level? Who is showing interest and is that interest as a RB, WR, TE or perhaps a position on Defense?

And averaged over 13 YPC. Kid is averaging 7.5 per carry for the year. He's a workhorse that gets better with carries. Coach got a shiny new toy at QB and has not used Big 7 to his best.

 

And what a disservice to Big 7 that deserves more, in the system all those years for this? Imo, the shine on that toy is becoming dull!!

Block better it doesnt matter who's back there. We have made adjustments in the backfield but ignored some of the issues with the line. I got tape and see alot. Can't blame back only. It's a team game. Can't say a kid who is averaging over 7 yards a carry can't run. Ran for 1100 last year and all of a sudden can't or doesn't know how to run. The negative and short runs are on the line. All our backs are good in their own way. The line has to win. If we are going to say someone hasn't adjusted it's the lines performance as a unit. You can't break a tackle in the backfield and the hole. I've watched all the game films. Chisolm gets yardage because he bounces or cuts to the backside and is small and quick enough to squirm. The play designed hole is rarely there. He will be more productive in this sense. If we blocked and sealed better all the backs would be more productive. It's not one back or the other its the group up front getting blown up too much.
