October 25, 201510 yr Stoops isn't the problem. He's doing a great job. Talent is the issue. Last night was high level SEC talent vs. low level SEC talent. The only thing Barker is the answer to is a trivia question about the fight at EKU. Kind of begs a question: Is it more like "mid-level Big 10 talent?"
October 25, 201510 yr I touched on this with Clyde last week about the TE commit UK got, scout called him a 4 star but he's not a 4 star, at least not at this moment. 247 is the most accurate source for talent evaluation. Most of UKs guys are high 3 stars and a hand full of 4 stars. It's still better than Joker and it's good enough to be a middle of the pack SEC team.

October 25, 201510 yr I hope he gets more Snaps and his shoulder is ok. Towles is not the answer for This team. This far into a season you can't have more Int's than TDs as the starter. Just get Barker snaps so he is ready if Towles gets hurt.
October 25, 201510 yr Barker is in a good spot. He should pick up a few snaps and improve to the point where he can slide into starting without a huge learning curve. He should also benefit from a better supporting cast by that time.

You can talk about Barkers INT all you want but look at Towles Int's last night. Towles wasn't hit as he was throwing his god awful Int's. Would it have been better if he didn't move the ball down the field? Really? Did you notice UK has a lot of their 2's in? He did what he needed to do in the 2nd drive. Not sure what you were hoping to see, nevermind, you think they should erect a bronze statue of Towles outside the stadium.

You love spinning things don't you? I never mentioned how the Int's came Just that he had more than TD's. But now that you bring it up. I can tell you none of the ones he threw last Night were balls that the reciever dropped or tipped. I saw him throwing his first as a jump ball with a defender all over the reciever and his 2nd directly to Miss St's defender which by the way if the first DB didn't pick it off there were 2 more closer than any UK reciever who would have also picked it off. The msg I get is you will make excuses for anything Towles does wrong. Funny how you rip Barker who moved the ball right down the field in only his second college series of his life but continue to make excuses for Towles who has played in College games for 3 years now as he has been there 4 years now. October 25, 201510 yr Defense is bad. Towles too inconsistent and was glad to see Barker finally got some College reps. The offense is bad and it goes straight to two things, the O Line is horrible and the receivers can't hang on to a ball. Tenn should win by 750 points this UK team is that bad. I'd start Barker just for the heck if it. Can't be any worse. Unless Towles is injured there is zero chance that Barker starts. What makes you think the receivers will magically start catching balls if Barker is the one throwing them? The backup QB gets more love than anyone.

The backup QB gets more love than anyone. I never once said Barker should start the rest of the season. Read my posts. I said he should get more reps to get ready if needed. There are only 2 games left that matter. Have Barker ready in case he is needed period.
October 25, 201510 yr Hard to gauge Barker since he wasn't playing against the ones and that was a much more relaxed and basic defense MS was playing. Still he showed enough that hopefully he does get some snaps in some of the upcoming games. The downside is with that O line he could quickly become gun shy. He will not start this year but with more game snaps it should make for that much more of a competition next year, which is a good thing.

October 25, 201510 yr I think Barker could be a death sentence to this team, not saying he isn't talented or a great QB but the mobility of PT has made a lot of great things happen. Barker would be a great fit behind a high-quality O-line but right now it feels as if were starting a JV line in a Varsity game. Really feel that until both our offensive and defensive lines get better the cats will continue to struggle in games against high level defenses and SEC quarterbacks. Time to focus on UT, go cats!!
