Has Baker ever competed in hurdling at track meets? He seems to have some potential there as well.

Kash reminds me of Micah Johnson in 2005. He too was a dominant LB, committed to UK, a good but not great offensive player, and his team was unbeaten and ranked #1.

Quinton Baker is faster than Jacob Smith and I don't even know who Jacob Smith is.

 

Smith is pretty fast he has worked with a trainer on running the 40. He also has a visit lined with UC and UL in a couple weeks. Jacob Smith is probably the best 2A RB plays for NewCath.

Newport Central Catholic this is his fourth year playing running back for them. He is friends with Baker also.

Ashland played against Newport and Smith when both were sophomores. I believe Newport won that game but Baker lot them up.

Three different watches clocked the time. It wasn't as official as laser time but three different watches you shave off a little bit he's still running a 4.35 which is a top 5 40 at this years NFL combine I think. He's not just straight line speed, he can make you miss.

 

This award should go to Baker, but Daniel is gonna be a stoop troop so I can see it landing his way.

The scary thing is ... there are probably people who are voting for Mr. Football who believe this 4.29 crap.

 

There is no way a high school athlete between his junior and senior year is running a time that would put him in the top 5 of 40 yard dashes ran by NFL players.

 

You guys need to quit saying 4.29 (or at least qualify your remarks with "handtimed"). It makes a lot more sense now that this player doesn't have offers from higher ranked schools. 4.53 is a little more realistic and closer to reality.

Still the fastest back in the state by far.

Years ago on BaxterPreps East Carter fans were claiming they had a kid who was fast but not as fast whatever ridiculous 40 time claimed. So I personally emailed Maurice Green through his fan club and he said he ran around a 4.4-4.5 40 time in high school. So IMO if it isn't a laser time then it does not truly count. That being said Baker has super speed and quickness that should allow him to make plays at the next level. I have not had very many chances to watch baker play defense, with that kind of speed he should be a tremendous defensive player also...is he?

 

As I said before Daniels might be the best all around football player in the state! Which IMO should play a bigger factor in the selection than stats and which school the kid plays for.

Just watching these two reels, Baker is hands down more explosive and looks to be 3 steps faster than Smith. Baker is a sub 4.4 40 no doubt in my mind. Smith looks like a great DB and a ver good RB, but Baker is on a different level and I think it will show in his numbers this week. My vote for Mr Football would still be Kash Money Daniel though. Just really like the kid and his attitude.

Kash Daniel finished with at or around 200 total tackles last year, if they play in the same amount of games this year, I look for him to duplicate that or finish in the 180 range at least. Baker will go for well over 2,000 yards and 30 TDs, probably finish close to 3,000 rushing at quite possibly get close 40 TDs. Is Smith even getting mentioned for Mr Football? Not knocking the kid, he looks like a helluva player, just curious, bc I dont think he is on the same level as these to. I would compare him more to Kurtlen Brown fom Ashland or Washington from Fairview.

He may be a great player ... but ... I have seen him on the track ... and his 100 time doesn't SNIFF a comparison of 4.29.

 

Jacob Smith may not be as good of a football player as Baker ... but after seeing him for the past few years (and seeing the fastest that this state has to offer on the track for the past 20 years) ... Smith would not gets his doors blown off. (I could care less if he is faster).

 

But ... what are you truly accomplishing by saying that Baker has ran a 4.29? Did you read that in a magazine somewhere? Anyone who believes that may want to check into the looney bin for a week or 12.
