Kash Daniels and Quinton Baker don't show the same speed and quickness as Jacob Smith from Newcath. I don't get all the hype towards those two, both play poor schedules and seem over rated to me.

If you were the parent of a kid in that position you probably wouldn't feel the same way. You would likely want what's best for your kid.

Baker is the current 2A state champion in the 100 meter dash... 10.79...I'd say he has plenty enough speed and quickness to keep up with anyone.

Absolutely. But who's to say ? Uk, marshall , miss state ( may be a rumor). But still. All are great schools. ? Don't ya think ? An all have offered him a scholarship for a free education.

Both players seem to be in the discussion for Kentucky Mr. Football. With regard to their type of play and their need for a big game against a quality opponent to set themselves apart in the Mr. Football race, who has a better week.

 

The numbers don't necessarily have to be greater then the other, make an argument for what would make a better performance for each player versus their opponent. For example: Daniel is a QB and LB, he could have an overall better game with 18 tackles, but less offensive output. And Baker is a RB but plays some defense and special teams, he could have 150 yards with no tackles and be better this week.

Either kid is a great choice for Mr. Football. I know many see Kash as a front runner right now but I think a lot of that has to do with his popularity because he's going to be a wildcat. There haven't been to many defensive Mr. Footballs, and I know he plays both ways but LB is what Kash is first. If Ashland can beat JC even if Baker doesnt run for 250 and 4 Td's I think he has a better shot at it because people love offense. Like I said either is a very good choice both are without a doubt two of the best to come through EKY in a while. Something I think is lost in the discussion is (correct me if I'm wrong) but EKY hasnt had a Mr. Football since Tim Couch. The fact that both of the consensus front runners this year speaks volumes for what these coaches and kids are doing.

What ever D1Son is drinking, could someone please get me just a small glass?! If someone in any class of football can line up on or off a football field and beat Q in a foot race, show them to me, because Id really Love to see it. Q is also closer to being a complete RB, looking more like the Harris kid than what his Frosh-jr versions were, (simply a track kid in shoulder pads) Baker is more of a football player now. Kash is a man among boys, but he is a LB first, but isnt exactly an offensive juggernaut. Now, if I had the choice of having anyone kid in class A to have the ball in his hands with the game on the line? Itd be Kash. He is a fighter, winner, and most of all he is a hell of a Leader. Be it on or off the football field, Mr Football or an eventual NFL caliber player, Kash is bound for great things. Not saying either is better than the other, its just too hard to compare the two. Personally, like most years, I will be suprised if anyone from EKY wins it. Sadly, bc they are both very deserving of the award.

Kent Phelps is a better back than Kash Daniels. I've seen it in person. Kash is in the backfield because he is a playmaker. Kash isn't anything special, IMO. Very good football player, no doubt but I think Quinton Baker is more college ready than Kash. I think Quinton deserves it more than Kash, however, I'm not sure over EVERYONE else in the running.

Baker decommited from UK because the oc, which was his primary recruiter left. So he reopenned recruitment. UK apparently had hard feelings from than and never opened up to offer him after they found a new oc. He wanted to end his recruitment process before the high school season started, so he chose the best offer available, Marshall. Whether he chooses to flip on Marshall for Miss State or any other power 5 school, I can't say that I would doubt his decision. Wherever he ends up, they will get 110% out of him.

The problem is, that can be brought up with 98% of the schools around the state. Yes, there are a few schools that play a killer schedule, but most teams around the state play a lot of teams in their area and their district. Aka Madison Southern and Damian Harris.

I get what your saying. Your in a different part of the state. But Baker lit up last years 4a champion in the playoffs. I won't mention their name because I know you hate them. The best team Ashland has played this year is GW, Baker had good numbers that game considering who they were playing. GW is ranked #2 overall in WV and their only loss came from Ashland. They are comparable to some of the top 5 and 6a teams in my, IMO.

 

Ashland does their best to play a tough schedule and pretty much every one of their out of district opponents are known to be great teams, with great traditions. This year's out of district teams were Raceland 1a top 10, Russell 3a top 10, George Washington which is #2 in wva, Ironton Ohio is generally a tough out for anyone, and Tates Creek in the final game of the regular season. It may not be a Cov Cath schedule, but it certainly isn't weak.
